Intake Manifold Mods?

I just picked up a used 2008 TL Base 5AT a few days ago, already has an XLR8 exhaust (no resonator), as well as aftermarket wheels and tires.

I've found that after being more than 25% into the throttle and letting off completely causes huge deceleration, I assume due to the engine generating a lot of vacuum from pushing out more air then it can take in. Would a more open intake manifold fix this? Either way I'm looking to do a wider manifold, what else goes with a mod like that, do I have to modify the ECU?

Thanks for the help.

I get that, but I've driven auto before (even a Jeep with a hill assist that was stuck on) and those were all way less notable than this, and also way more consistent. It's not your normal deceleration, it's a lot more violent and only after heavy(er) throttle.

Regardless of whether or not this is normal behavior for this engine/trans I'm still interested in opening up the intake and I'm just wondering what's involved with doing something like that.

but you have to understand the reason why, first!!!!
the reasoning of, because decel is weird, wont fly!!

if you want to swap intake manifolds with an SHAWD 4th Gen TL, you can.

It's part of Grade Logic that Honda programed into the auto tranny to help with braking. It has been discussed in these threads below:

Engine braking more apparent with the TL due to it cutting off fuel to injectors when you let off the gas, trans stays engaged

If you are after midrange torque, the MDX spacer will help. With an automatic, that's probably the way to go.
