Improve Performance for Acura TL 2007
Hello, so recently I purchased a Acura TL 2007 with 105K Miles on it. It is very clean and a silver color. I was wondering what I could do to improve my performance on my car. I understand it's not a Type S but they were expensive and out of my budget. I recently purchased a K&N Cold Air Intake but that's all that I have purchased so far. I'm going to purchase a CatBack exhaust soon also to make it sound nice. I was looking at a OBX exhaust. But I'm not sure what else I can do either than those 2. I understand an exhaust barley adds performance. Thank you for your help.

Yep pretty much as justnspace states. You can spend a ton on all the bolt on's and not see much gain. Say 10 real world horse power and less mpg. All in all, not worth it. You will need to go forced induction and at that, I'm guessing maybe 8 psi safely on stock internals.

- Throw the K&N in the trash
- Sell your car
- Buy a TL Type-S 6MT

A common echo to hear on these forums is maintenance before mods. Make sure your 105k mile service for the timing belt/water pump/spark plugs/wires etc. has been done. Fortunately you have a stronger transmission with the 07, but you still ought to keep up with tranny fluid changes.
The last thing you wanna do is drop a few grand on an intake and exhaust only to have your valve cover blow off for some overlooked reason one week later. Then you're out the money and the car.
Take care of her!

Hmmm, I thought the TL would reach it's max rated power running on 91 AKI fuel; bumping the Anti Knock Index rating to 94 or higher should not improve performance at all and in fact, may slightly reduce it unless significant engine mods and/or forced induction has been implemented.

Yeah Don't waste your money to make this car fast cause you wont unless you go FI
If you want nicer sound from your TL yes go ahead and get the OBX exhaust which will go nice with your K&N Cold air intake

Although; if you do want to spend money...I can vouch for Hondata!
i'm tuning the car, or having someone tune the car, and it's much much quicker. or that's what my butt dyno tells me.
i'm pretty much bolted on and was leaning out in the higher RPM's...the tune has fixed that and it's wonderful!

the higher the octane, the less power the gasoline actually has. Octane refers to the detonation resistance of the gasoline, not the amount of power it contains. Why? Some engines are too powerful or high compression (like ours) and the regular 87 will prematurely ignite before the spark when the engine gets hot.
