I'm lost
Alright guys looking for some guidance on my 04 TL. I don't really know a lot about cars. Been reading the forums and people are talking about J pipes and stages of exhaust.. clueless!
I just did tinting, wheels, and kit. Now I'm looking to do some performance mods. I'm looking to get the aem CAI, the exhaust I'm clueless and if I don't know if the J pipe comes with the exhaust, and also I saw some posts on "UR" ? Like I said I'm lost any insight would be helpful.
Thanks!

Exhaust goes:
Engine ---> Primary Cats --> J-Pipe --> 3rd Cat --> [[Resonator --> Mid Muffler --> Primary Mufflers --> Tips]]
The stuff in brackets [[ ... ]] is what is normally referred to as "exhaust" or "stock exhaust" or "cat back exhaust".
Mods are:
Replace Primary Cats with Ritchie V6 Pre-Cat Deletes (you may not pass emissions testing).
Replace stock J-Pipe with after market (ATLP, XLR8, Ritchie V6) J-Pipe
Replace 3rd cat with after market Test Pipe (ATLP, Ritchie V6) OR with high flow Cat (XLR8, ATLP).
Replace stock cat-back exhaust with after market cat-back exhaust (many suppliers) OR
hack the stock exhaust removing the mid-muffler and replacing the stock resonator with an after market resonator (the various "stages" of this depend on which resonator, most prefer the dynomax).
There are limited (near 0) performance gains hacking the stock exhaust, it's more about a modestly improved sound.
"UR" is Unothodox Racing and they make a lightweight crank pulley for these cars. It comes in stock size or a smaller under-drive size.
AEM, Fujita or Injen CAI is fine.

dude, you can't read up enough on even the smallest mod for our cars. I've been reading up for 3 years and am still learning (and 2 kids tends to put a damper on your mod plan). The TL is very sensitive and we are fortunate to have some serious trail blazers who developed great DIY's through trial and error.
I know someone was itching to say "search is your friend", but it's gotten tuff to sift through the junk due to the shear size this site has grown to.
I recommend starting in the 3G Garage: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/3g-tl-garage-faq-3g-tl-newbies-553554/
It has some of the purest threads and even those labeled DIY usually start off with all the original background info on parts and mods.

if you plan on leaving your sound system stock, and no plans for a super charger, get an underdrive...if you plan on upgrading the system or getting an SC then get the stock diameter
Contact site vendor/sponsor Excelerate. He can help you choose the pulley best for your needs and should be able to get you a competitive price.

you have to wait a min of 3 days and have 5 meaningful posts, or maybe its the other way around... But anyway once it's up you have to go to your user profile (your account) under the title logo of "Acurazine" And enable it in there.
i don't plan on a stereo and doubt i'll ever have the extra scratch for a SC, but i got the stock size anyway. the difference is about 1 hp between the two, you don't need a new belt and i was never too keen on the way it underdrives the accessories. people with the smaller one never report any problems, though.
man, that install is a beeyotch! I took a shot at it while it was on jack stands a couple months ago. Linked thick extensions out the wheel well for clearance and even had the pulley tool. No go. I plan on renting a lift next month for my precats/j-pipe/test pipe and I will reattack with a 6 foot breaker.

The cheapest way to go I think plus you can do yourself is get a fujita intake because its cheaper then the AEM and then get the p2r power package(throttle body spacers.etc) check out the black market and go to vendors and they have the power package there for sale.
