How many HP increase should I expect from these?

hi

I'm totally new to mods scene ( I modded psp tho.. LOL )

Injen CAI (black pipe looks sick.. ) , ATLP J-Pipe, ATLP Catback Quad Exausts..

I'm thinking roughly about 25 HP gain.. Is it?

My type s is only 3 weeks old and got 1700 miles on it already.. And trying to save up some dough for those 3 parts. Both j-pipe and CAI I can maybe get them for $550 but the exausts... $ 1100... So thats the last part that I'm going to get.

I'm all up on beating my friend's G35 sport. Got smoked by his girlfriend's 335i couple weeks back .. And that got my eyes wide open LOL

Well HP doesn't all just add together.

I'd guess 15, maybe 20 add'l HP at the wheels.

The 335i is very quick, your gonna have a hard time with that one.

As for the G35S, you will have a chance.

I would suggest getting the J pipe, intake. If your money is tight, UR Crank pulley and racing pre cats is a better choice than a $1100 cat back.

How much did you lose to the 335i by? 2 car lengths?

edit: race the G35S on a roll, our cars are faster on a roll

335i was FAST. We started on the roll and that beast was kept on going ahead far and far away. I wasn't pushing my car all the way tho.. But you know that car can run. LOL

I heard Crank pulley will make loud noise? Cuz I don't want to make my car noisy as hell as cheap ass civics and all that..

If not, how much should I expect to get the smaller pulley? And brand suggestions?

You won't get extra noise with a crank pulley. Unorthodox racing is the choice, you can get an underdrive pulley (if your not running an aftermarket system, or not running an SC), otherwise you get the standard size UR (unorthodox racing) pulley.

Excelerate on this forum is a dealer for that, check out the GB section, I think he has a price of 190 for underdrive and 200 for standard size.

Gains wise, IDK

Just go with intake, P2R spacer, pulley, J pipe and test pipe to eliminate the third cat for now. All this can be bought for less than a grand.

=) i dunno about the the exact hp the mods would gain you... but S/C is your bestfriend(but you'll have to wait until CT comes up with the solution)

I am running CT S/C along with Greddy EVO2 Cat-back... a 335i was tailing me on the on ramp to the highway... after the turn I accelerated and he couldn't catch up... and then he tried to catch up on a few occasions but he couldn't do it...

=)

and i am still waiting for my J-pipe to come in =) that should help even more =)

I do have one question...

I'm very concerned about gas mileage since gas is sky rocketing...I know..I drive an Acura TL...I should be able to afford the gas...blah blah...

do these mods affect the gas mileage in any way? I've heard a CAI will improve MPG but what about the p2r (sp?) tb spacer, j-pipe and pulleys...will they hurt the MPG's?

P2R Spacer makes no difference as far as I can tell. Thats based on long-term (1000+ miles) MID reporting. (TL-S, 5AT).

They will all improve the MPG. The issue is how much, the CAI gives you about 1 solid MPG, the J-pipe should give a little bit, maybe .3 MPG as it causes a freer flowing exhaust. the Pullies should give you about a .2 MPG gain as it reduces the effort needed to get the motor spinning, meaning less power used, meaning less gas. The TB spacer may cause an decrease ,it will cause the intake to draw in more, and colder air, colder-air means more fuel needed to ignite, but it produces more power, so less fuel used to go faster, so really, no gain for TB spacer.

Are you sure about that? You are both auto right? I gotta think that there has to be a 6MT that is faster. I hate to say it, cause mine is an auto too. The fact is though that a 6MT would need less actual HP at the flywheel to beat a 6MT. Auto's eat a LOT of power. That being said, you may be the 2 most highly modified UA7's but doubtfully the fastest. Don't take this the wrong way, I'm not trying to you just gotta state the truth. Sometimes it hurts though...

um.. i dunno if the guy didnt know how to shift, but this older guy (40+) was trying to race me in a 6MT 335i 4 door the other night.... we raced 3 times, and twice i pulled on him.. AND i had a person in the car with me.. the only time he beat me, was when i accidently popped the car into 2nd @ only 4k rpm

G35... blah... nothing... a modded g35, could be a different story...

With my new J-pipe, and Megan Test pipe... i am DEFINITELY going for 270+ whp...

still get my ass handed to me by sti's & evo's.....

pretty much there isn't a luxury car n/a in the type s' price range that can beat if off the line auto or 6speed

oh and by the way... there aren't any modded n/a tl or type s' in new york that can hand our asses in a platter

I do want to race blackura to see who is faster but his ass is rolling on stock tires so it wouldn't be an even match he'd prob lose on that basis only

Dude, the IS350 can be had with few options for under 40K and can bury a 6MT or 5AT TL-S from a dig. They're RWD with a 4.08 axle.

They are talking about installing it...not when the engine is on.

With one touch start, you can't use the blip method of using the car's starter to get the crank pulley nut loose. A lot of ppl here have a TLS with a pulley and they don't have problems.

Go with a J pipe, pulley and intake. Those are good bang for the buck mods.

I think thats awesome that you beat her car but the other day I beat a 3G TL with my 05 CooperS cabrio which only has intake/exhaust, and I still know that I would have beat the MCSc if I were in the TL!

The 0-60 time of the 335i is about 5.3 sec, whereas the TL-S has a 0-60 time in the high 5 sec range. The disparity is not THAT much but its enough that with your proposed mods it would be a tight race.

It all comes down to whose butt is in the saddle, put simply.

The BMW is more like a high 4 second 0-60/mid 13 second car. regardless of transmission. The OP's car is an automatic with a high 5 second 0-60/mid 14 second quarter. The disparity is actually huge. Even fully bolted, a TL-S 5AT will have trouble dipping below 14 flat. It will taked forced induction for the TL to play in the 335's league.

Base MSRP on an IS350, including destination is $36,770. Not really sure what your sister's loaded to the hilt 250 has to do the base price of a 350?

i agree, here in california things seems to be way more expensive than what most people are seeing...for example a brand new TLS that people are finding for 33k is like 36k here in california, so juruki is right on the money; when I was shopping for an IS350 in february 2007, fully loaded was 48-50k! Thats why went with the TLS.

anx, try getting an IS350 w/ all the features the TLS has for 35-38K....you can't...the link you show is base model w/ nothing.

IS350 doesn't even come with HIDs standard

The reason why I got the TLS is because it was bigger inside and it cost way less than a IS350 that is comparably equipped.

The simple fact remains that a brand new base IS350 can be bought for under 37k. No, it definitely won't have the same level of options the TL-S has, and whether or not it's a good value is a matter of personal opinion. The Lexus is quite a bit faster than the TL-S, and to some people, that alone makes it a good value.
