Dave, the J-Pipe has no cons, because it is simply a remove and replace modification. All it does is takes what Acura made and installs a wider diameter, properly engineered pipe to increase flow through your exhaust.
To answer your winter question, I had my J-Pipe in all winter, I installed my catback this spring and the J-pipe looks the same as when I bought it. The only thing you need to worry about corroding underneath your car is your bolts.
Most non-TLers do not know what a J-pipe is, it is generically called a flex pipe.

ok so you have the j pipe, and you live in canada, that is good. So have you ever had a e test with it on?
do you really find it increases horsepower?
does it solve the heat soak issue that these cars have?
which one is the best and which one do you have?

Richie provided a dyno chart with a completely stock AT TL. I saw gains. DID YOU? No, this J-pipe won't solve any of the heat soak issues. "best" will be subjective. But, there is version 3 of the RV6, so that means Richie improved the design of the stock j-pipe then refined it twice for his last iteration Hope this helps...

Dave, just get the RV6 V3 J-pipe. If you don't want to spend $450, try find a used ATLP V2 J-pipe.
Like other members said, there really isn't any CONS of having this mod. Trust me you'll feel much better once you take the car out for a spin after the install

I never have never put my TL on a dyno, but there is a better throttle response when you give gas, the car pulls me so easily now as opposed to the stock TL, and this is after an intake, catback and j-pipe.

As to rust, I always spray my entire exhaust with Rustoleum high temp header paint, and I have NEVER had to replace an exhaust or an exhaust part on an Acura.
We like to use a LOTTA salt in winter months in Ohio

I just bought the ATLP j pipe. Those guys are good over there. Great customer service too. We will see how this new adventure goes.

All of the j-pipes are made of stainless steel. There should be no concern for rusting. The XLR8 and RV6 brands are *entirely* stainless steel, including the flanges. The RV6 comes with stainless steel fasteners (nuts & bolts) too.
