Hondata needs your 6MT

If anyone out there is willing to donate their 6mt (preferably modified) for about a week or so, please PM me. They've already reflashed mine and they need one more to make sure the programming is consistent.

Hondata is located in Torrance, CA.

They are working on developing an ECU reflash for the non-superchrged TL. It's for better performance...hence, horsepower.

However, just because they are trying to develop an ECU reflash, doesn't mean that they will release the product. If it makes sense (and power), they'll release it.

So... how is the 'reflash' working for you?

I got it back yesterday and I couldn't be happier. I don't think much would happen w/ a stocker, but with performance mods, it makes a difference.

The reason they want a 6mt is because they are easier to work with. No upshifts during dyno and so on.

I see thank you. I'll have a S/C in my car soon. I was just wondering if it's regarding to the S/C addition or not.

thanks for the info GoBig

So basically its a reflash, not a piggyback. You will have to send yours in and they will reflash it and send it back.

I don't know what future plans (if any) Hondata has for this. If I had to guess, it could be a piggyback or reflash...assuming it went to market.

Mine was a reflash because the R&D on the vehicle was via direct programming.

We are doing some basic R&D at the moment and a looking for a few vehicles to test with as there is a natural variation from vehicle to vehicle.

We do not do piggyback systems.

We will be testing the naturally aspirated MT vehicles first, simply because they are easier to dyno.

If - and I stress if we are able to make power from a reflash for a MT vehicle then an auto reflash is a possibility. It is not guaranteed that we will release anything, so DO NOT phone asking for when a TL reflash will be available.

I would like two MT vehicles. One stock and one with intake / exhaust preferrably in the SoCal area. The time needed would be only a few hours - the time to dyno in stock trim and then with a reflashed ECU.

It appears that only this generation TL (the most recent) has a programmable ECU.

So just to deliberately repeat myself: It is not guaranteed that we will release anything, so DO NOT phone asking for when a TL reflash will be available.

I just got off the phone with Matt at Hondata and he said that to his knowledge they are not doing any work on any TL's at this time. I have a 6MT w/ Injen intake and custom Apexi WSII exhaust. It's kind of odd they would state this if this was in motion.

This is probably why hondata stated:

Sorry not trying to bash you. I was just reading the thread and they specifically stated not to call them regarding TL reflashes. Not being childish, just observant.....don't get angry

A vote for the AT. Hopefully they can get something from the 6MT to get this far. Keeping fingers crossed.

If I understand correctly, the development for the 6MT would also apply to the At because apparently the ECU mapping is the same.

That would be kool if they did come out with a reflash. Hondata is "god" for the k-series motors...I wonder what they can do for the tl's ecu. Also, I though hondata only did 4 bangers, kool that they are branching out.

I can go to hondata whenever they need it! I have an aem intake, comptech exhaust, unorthodox underdrive crank pulley, outlaw throttle body and intake manifold spacers, and sun automotive's ground and voltage system. Also the comptech short shifter. Email me. jrkia82@yahoo.com
