Hondata Flashpro and tune or RV6 high flow cats/RV6 Jpipe combo?

08 Type S 6 speed M/T

I am considering the Hondata Flashpro and getting my TL tuned locally here by an import tuner I know.

Or,

Get the High Flow cats and RV6 j pipe combo for my TL.

Each of the two are about $1000.00 each so, the price is the same more or less.

I know it would be ideal to get the hfc's and jpipe combo and then flashpro and tune - but that's $2000.00.

So, comments please and vote on the poll for which I could do now.

No point in tuning a basically stock vehicle. You will get the most gains out of the jpipe and pcds or hfpcs

i have all of the above. get the parts first then tune.

get your tune through VitTuned, he basically sells Flashpro at cost. you can get his tune and flashpro for around 750, then spend the other 250 towards the performance mods. he is legit and has been known to e-tune just as well as real dyno tunes. read his website

How'd you make out with your Vittune? I'm getting ready to buy the Flashpro and tune package from him. It's $760 with the tune, and then he's getting me the CAN adapter for $45.

he's been great, we're on like calibration 15 or so and right now he's fine tuning my vtec engagement point. he is very responsive and the car drives great right now...highly recommend him. i may have to retune because i'm adding pnp runners, pnp IM, and a bored TB.

he's compared some of his e-dynos to real dynos and they come out very similar.

Interesting man, I had my old Civic Si tuned by Steve , his co-worker in Canada with e-tunez. Steve was really cool, and knew what was up. I just hear from the local tuner that over email and sending in your datalogs that you cannot tune timing or ignition, one of those two, it just seems I can get more of a complete tune in person, with my local tuner and a dyno. It will cost me $500.00 , but I think it will be worth it. Anyway, still waiting for the tax return...

That's pretty expensive but your call. I would do it if I had FI but I don't think it should cost more than 300

You should at least email vit and bring up your thoughts, one email could save you over $400

Cool. Did you lower or raise vtec? I've heard great things about his tunes. The way I see it, at only $65 more than the cost of the FP, it's definitely worth a shot.

Just curious, with your setup, have you ran a 1/4 mile time at a drag strip?

No no no, Justin. He wanted to know if OTHER people with type esses thought he should stay stock and if they did too. He wants to get all the performance out of this car possible without changing the look of it too much. So in relation to his trans, it's the equivalent to vestite and not gender.

In my opinion, you should go with the RV6 HFC/j-pipe combo first. You won't neccesarily need a tune after that but getting a tune before having any bolt-ons won't really be worth the money, as some members mentioned above.

Stop telling me what the fk to do.

If that's considered acceptable, then I'm officially telling you to stop posting threads and taking up server space to discuss topics that have been debated and redebated and masterbated on this forum ad nauseam.

Get all your breathing mods first, and then a tune. Like every other person has pretty much said. I'm not voting.

you're a funny dude, stealth.

Yeah, man...what's the point of tuning first? You'll squeeze out a few more horses based on the same limited flow. I think you'll end up needing TWO tunes if you try to go that route first.

I knew I would need two tunes if I got the Hondata first, but I was hoping the tuner would waive the fee after I got my Hfc's and jpipe!!

I'm totally the opposite of these people here. I like to get my car tuned stock then add on the parts. You'll find the power increase a lot better.

I have seen dyno's with people that had pcd's/j pipe/ delete 3rd cat
combo, or hfc's/j pipe combo/delete 3rd cat

But, I have yet to see results of somebody that has tuned a stock TL-S, has anybody seen results of this?

yes, but WHY?
what is the point of your thread?

you as a civic si owner, you've modded your car before.
you've done the hondata reflash before.
we know that you are old enough to be some of our dads.
we know this.
we already know to tune the car after the mods.

this is not new information to us or to you.
so again, I ask, what is the point of this thread?

for a simple poll that every one knows the answer to?
