Hondata
Looking to get Hondata for my 04-6MT, I know what to get, and I have an ECU from an 07 auto. Problem is..
Acura refuses to re-vin my new ECU. I asked multiple times with different people and they tell me no. I do have a local lock smith company that says they can do it, but they aren't responsible for any issues if they arise.
My question is, if there was an issue, could I just plug back in my stock ECU with no issues? Or can I just use Hondata to load the vin myself? And does the immobilizer need to be dealt with before the new ECU vin process? Thanks

Bump. Wired the canbus and all that's left is hooking up my 07 auto ecu and having the keys programmed for the immobilizer.
Is there anything I'm missing? Do I need to do anything with the Vin? Honda will NOT touch the car to reprogram. It's an 04 6mt.

Use the wording that Hondata has in their instructions: Instruct your Acura dealer to perform an immobilizer repro- gram with the “Replace ECU” function.
As I typed this I think what may have helped me is that I bought a new ECU from the dealership and had that dealership perform the replace ECU operation. I bought a new ECU to ensure it worked and wasn't a bricked unit. If the ECU is used they may not want to touch it as theres no telling if the vin on the ECU is stolen. If it's a used ECU and you want to keep it, you'll need to research online about reprograming options with Honda HDS scan tool.

They didn't want the year difference was the thing. And clearly it's not going to work any way with them if I get a new one for mine (04).
My lock smith can do the key programming. Is there anything else needed besides that? I thought I saw something about a difference because I got an auto ecu, but I have a clutch. So one of the steps requires pressing the clutch but the ecu doesn't register it.

make friends with a honda tech.
ask tech to bring home HDS and laptop.
tech can perform the reprogramming of ECU's.
my lucky stars aligned...I was able to score a 6MT 08 type-s ECU for my 2006 6MT TL for $100.
I also have honda tech friends that brought home HDS and Honda laptop.
not even a 2 min procedure... click some buttons....and voila. my new ecu was programmed to my 2006 TL

Ok I finally got Acura on board with doing what I need. Second question. I'm using an 07 AT ecu, is there anything I need to.do prior to taking it to acura or while there because it's an AT ecu? I read that you've got to lock it to hobdata first before having the immobilizer and vinn stuff done or else the tech will fail it cause it asks to depress the clutch at one point. Can't seem to find that part anywhere on the install guide.
