Highest achieveable WHP with a 2005 5AT?

Sup guys, I figure once i'm done with my visuals, I want to put a little more juice to the wheels. I'm trying to gather everything together so I can just order everything at once. Heres what i'm getting from viewing various threads/dynos...

2005 5AT Baseline WHP: 205
Already have a CAI...so that adds about 5-8whp...so i'm in the 210-212 range currently?

GREDDY Evo2 catback exhaust: +11whp
E-Shift Procats: +18whp
UR Lightweight crank pulley: +8whp
Thermoblock Intake Spacer: +5-8whp

So all that *SHOULD* put me around the 255-258whp range?

Has anyone tried the Type-S cams?

yea, around there.. and seriously, spacers will not give you that much hp to the wheels.. UR crank pulley either. just gives better throttle response... as for TL-S cams, do they even sell those?

Yes they do. On other forums, u can read that they are about 400 or 600 bucks....kinda forgot. People have said they fit perfectly & feel some increase in performance...but nothing proven on paper yet (dyno).

and Jaber.....FYI; U will not get anything close to those numbers. just to save you the grief. UR puller; 1 hp...maybe. Thermoblock; nuttin. just better throttle response (like stop n go traffic in heat). Someone on here had an Auto TL fully modded, N/A & I think he put down about 230ish. Sorry. IF u want power....GET BOOSTED! only way to go. I have an 06 5AT w/ procats & S/C and put out 294 HP on a DYNAPACK....which is about 275ish on a regular dynojet.

I've been building cars for a while, and have never seen mods, especially breather mods, actually return those advertised results on a dyno in real life before/after runs. I'd guess 225 would be much closer to realistic.

What did the butt dyno say?

Did you have to replace the entire valvetrain to do the swap?

I had 2 dyno runs tonite, on a Dynojet. First run was 216.7 HP and 187.6 TQ. Second run was 221.6 HP and 191.8 TQ. This with only AEM CAI and Magnaflow exhaust.

If youre looking for some more NA power, at least get the pro-cats. If you change your mind about the blower, the pro-cats will compliment that nicely.

At least get the pro-cats. Some decent gains naturally, and if you change your mind about the blower they will compliment it nicely.

here was my setup

AEM CAI, Comptech Catback, UR Pulley, TB spacers, E-Shift cats.

i too, only did a final dyno. it was a hot day, around 90 degrees.... i put down 227.41whp & 198.26 on a dynojet. i too was disappointed

as for the baseline, it is pretty much confirmed that a 5AT will put down 202~205 whp. my car also ran very, very lean. AFR around 14.9. I recently had my mechanic drop in the Cams, but i was unable to get her dyno'ed. i honestly didnt feel THAT much difference in the cams, but it was throughout July, which is a hot month, and i only had the car throughout the winter

That really seems low with the Pro-Cats and pulley. I thought the pro cats give about +20 HP.

Not to steal your thread- but I got called last night- Import Tuner of the Month! That now makes it 2 months in a row for AZ!

these cars def. lack some serious torque, i think thats mainly where the power decrease is. not so much in hp..plus the weight of the car isnt much of a help either

yeah. stock 5AT Type S is putting down around 250whp. figure a CAI & custom exhaust. maybeeeeee high 250's, 260 TOPS.

the pro cats actually DID add alot of power and sound... but ... the 21whp 18tq claim from eshift was on a 6MT. if you read the BM thread about buying the cats, the actual numbers for 5AT's was less when dyno proven. i think around 11 or 12 whp.

plus like everybody said, these things work in conjuction..

5AT baseline.. about 205
Fully modded N/A 230

thats 25 whp

cats. about 11
exhaust about 7
CAI about 5
Pulley & spacers about 3... totalling...26whp

AND , if those numbers are true, you may only get 7whp out of the exhaust if you have a high flow system, i.e, CAI, cats, etc....

good luck to you!!! i was surely upset about all the money i spent, to only put down 227whp. it was a hot day, so i honestly give myself about 235~240 TOPS on a cool day...

stylezz101, who is a GHOST these days lol, dynoed @ eshit and put down about 240whp. we and him had all the same mods, including the comptech catback.

Best mod would be lightweight wheels, if the wheels are light enough you'll notice much better acceleration and a if you had a 6 M/T you would be much better off.

oh definitely with the wheels. some 21.0lb wheels will kick ass

ALSO, i learned just last night while doing some reading. the 6MT Tl's are also about 100lbs light... (atleast for 07 + 08)

crazzzzy. 6MT is the way to go!

The Pro Cats made 20whp on M/T and A/T alike. Dan....k has an A/T and he made 21 whp. Some A/T make 15whp but I haven't seen 12whp yet. Most A/T see 15-20 whp and most M/T see 18-21whp.

oh. sorry for the misunderstanding. thought i read it in the thread that they made less on the AT.

either way, you cant add all the hp together and expect to see it @ the wheels.
