Any chance that I could get one of the custom J pipe made for me?

Haha, I'll talk to them man! Once it's all done I'm sure they will want to release this like they did with the cats, this time though for the supercharged application only! To be honest we were surprised to see that kind of gain. For now they want to make sure that it's worth doing power and driveability wise. I can already see that it is, but ultimately it's their call!

Nice, is it going to be equal-length, or just a less-restrictive path like they sell w/ the OBX "headers"?

Definitely let us know! I was going to either get a custom one made or give the OBX header a try.

I know for a fact that the prototype header on the TL race car was not equal lengthed, but maybe the length was tuned to overcome the problem.

Mike and everybody, my bad for hijacking the thread, I didn't plan for this it just sorta happened. I thought you guys were running modified everything by now, including the usual suspects like the j-pipe, but I guess you weren't... Dudes please no hard feelings but this is my last post here in regard to the custom j-pipe. In my defense I'm somewhat on topic or will be, since I'll be putting the HBP on in my upcoming Dyno tune session and I will report here on my experience with it. Plus it's all interconnected since opening up the exhaust will lower your current boost and allow you to run the HBP more safely and most efficiently!

As for the j-pipe development, I will let you guys know about all the details and I will evne post pics, all in due time. Just chill for now, let the E-Shift crew perfect the design the best they can so we can squeeze this sucker for all it's worth! Honestly, if you look at your stock j-pipe you will see that the pathways from the cats are crushed and narrow, so it's easy to see that's where the improvement in the form of a rounder pipe can be done. It's that simple! What's not so simple however is determining the ultimate pipe length and diameter which will give the best gains in tq and hp across the entire rpm range. But you already knew that!

What I can tell you is that recently they had a great success with a custom j-pipe on the 6 speed, TL-supercharged Accord! But way before that they were experimenting on Mark's TL and I believe Paul's too, so they know their shit! Wayne is great fab guy!

Now with my car, Mike, Wayne, Al and I, all were impressed with the torque gain across the rpm but especially down low, not so much with the hp though. I think it's fair to say that our TL is weak in the tq department so that's what I was after. And I was very happy to see the newfound tq. My car running pig rich spoiled the fun somewhat with but I guess I asked for it sticking the IAT into the intake body in the never ending search for more more power, haha.

The tune is to be continued... Hopefully next time my car will behave and show a more accurate gain providing we optimize the AF mixture! Unfortunately, last time the poor AFR got in the way of determining to the fullest the benefits of the custom j-pipe. Stay tuned though, I'll post in a dedicated thread when I have the good news!

MichaelBenz, when are you going to dyno it to see the increase in HP with the HPB?

What about your sc intake project Mikey, is it still alive or dead? I say make some money already and go spend it on the dyno or whatever the hell you want, haha! Plus you are running a small enterprise with the cf and whatnot, don't tell me you ain't got no money for a measly dyno!

Btw I'm going in tomorrow, hopefully, fingers crossed! But more dynos with the similar set up would be great to see! Get my drift!

Ya...ok....you got me there! Time has been the major issue frankly. The intakes should be out shortly. I am building a new design actually that is a little more involved in testing to make sure its what I am looking for...but at the same time should be easier to install.

Hey guys, here's an update, with the HBP my boost went up almost 5psi, so at WOT I'm now boosting a fluctuating 8-9 psi! With the stock Comptech pulley I had a solid 4psi. That additional psi gave me-about 20 more hp and tq give or take. You can feel the boost at any speed now, there is more of it and it's readily available! It seems that there is more surging now as well but it's not unbearable! The blower whine seems increased, the exhaust note also change a bit!

The best I did on the dyno was 320hp and 270tq! Good numbers but there is no free lunch, I'm going to have to at least get a transmission cooler, who knows what else might go wrong with that kind of boost! So that's the story!

So with the HBP you gained 20hp. Was this with the custom J pipe? Also how is your AF with the HBP? I am assuming you are running the comptech ACM, correct?

Yeah I forgot to mention it, my AFR leaned out a bit to 11 and a change, all thanks to HBP! Still too rich, but much better than before especially on top where I was running below 10. Correct,I'm running with the Comptech ACM and the new j-pipe.
I will post my dyno results once I have them in hand!

hot damn! That's what I'm talking about. 5AT FTW haha! So we're probably talking 390-400 at the crank now right? And then, if you delete the cats.....goodness.

I just got my HBP on. Its pouring here in the ATL so I won't be able to test it out until tomorrow. I had to replace the 3rd cat with a stock unit because of my Pro-cat deteriorating. Hopefully I will have replacement by the end of next week so I can get some dyno time in.

Also, I had to replace my belt. The Goodyear one was about done. I put in a Dayco belt. Has anyone else replaced their belt yet? Are there any differences between Dayco, Goodyear, and Napa brand belts?

Haha, bro you didn't see that coming, did you? 100whp per liter is the shit!!! I believe the engine can take more abuse but I'm not going to pushing the envelope to find out. Plus I'm not sure if the slushbox can take more torque!

Your crank hp estimation for my car seem reasonable- 400hp and 345tq @20% drivetrain loss equals to 320whp and 270wtq. Not bad for a family sedan with a slushbox!

For a 6speed with my set up 350whp and 300wtq isn't out of reach! 6spd guys your now it's your turn!

Hey Dan...k good luck with the pulley, keep us posted on your experience, I think you'd like it!!! But I strongly advise to check your AFR to be on the safe side beforehand! I know that most of us are running rich, especially me I think, hell I was running tens and lower, still every car is different and the pulley does lean out the AFR quite a bit!

Now about the belt...
Is that your original Goodyear gatorback? How long did you have it on?
I'm not sure why you'd need to change it, it should last you a while! I know that it's on of the strongest belts around and that's why CT went with it I guess! I still have my original belt on but then again I've only had the blower for about 6 month.

The weather cleared up for a few hours today and I was able to get a couple of good runs in on the highway. The power is definetely increased even with the stock third cat in. I can't wait to get to the dyno. The charger has a different whine to it now. The surging is a little different now. I'll check that out tomorrow when the weather is better.

Yes it is my original belt. I have had it since the s/c was installed last Febuary. The belt was showing some pretty good wear, so I decided to put a new one on. I could not find a Goodyear in stock anywhere around here.

Man, I am loving the HBP. I would say it added at least 15-20 hp. I can't wait to get to the dyno.

Just call Comptech (nate) and place an order. They are still there and have like SEVERAL left. They are like $90 roughly.

^And your gas is more expensive. Sounds like you CA guys are getting the shaft. I ran the car this morning on the highway. It pulls sooo hard now. Fourth gear at WOT is amazing.

What is your AF ratio like under WOT? Is it still running rich?

What would be a number to be considered safe with our supercharged engine?
