Help with TL
One of my frineds has a 2004 Acura TL with the engine code: j32a3 that was first rated at 270 hp I believe then later dropped to 258 due to SAE. Anyway, he went to the local track which is a 1/8 mile and he turned a 10.3. He said that he tried using the Sportshifter and just letting the ECU walk it up and he could not go lower then 10.3. I personally dont know what TL's run at the track and their so heavy so is a 10.3 bad or average? If their are any other TL owners out there could you possible chime in and shed some light on this with some tips on how to effectively run the car at the track. By the way his only mod is a Fujita air intake and any tips on pulling more power from the j32a3.

better tires, and some weight removal would get it under 10, I dont track my car since it is nowhere near a dragster lol, but I would think you guys would want to take some curves and straights rather than just the straight shots which the car isn't really designed for

lose the spare tire in the trunk, go to the track with premium fuel, only 1/4 tank, and have a proper launch.

power braking usually works best for me on an auto...
left foot on the brake... right foot rev to approx 2k... u need to experiment to get the right rpm launch... practice makes perfect... depending on weight and tire pressure it can change...
usually i am between 2-2.5k... VSA OFF, A/C OFF, in SS... i usually let off the brake between the third and final light... u should have minimal chirp and once u hook, floor it to readline and SS up... i am pretty sure even in the earlier 3rd gens, in SS it will auto shift 1->2 for you though... so make sure u grip first, otherwise on your launch if you don't have traction and u floor it, the rpms will just climb to redline, and it will put u into 2nd gear before u get anywhere...
oh yeah a stiffer suspension really helps with wheel hop... if ur friend already has susp mods and still has crazy wheel hop, look towards better engine mounts...
other members feel free to chime in... i am sure Ryan has alot of good feedback since he is a regular at our englishtown track...
