Help! Fujita intake in CA, smog leagel??

People in CA, please help. I wanted to purchase a Fujita intake for my 07 type-s, but I am worry about smog check. The seller said that the intake is CARB pending, so does that mean I won't pass the smog check since it doesn't have the CARB sticker.

I just moved from Hawaii to CA, so I have no idea about smog check. Please help.

If it is CARB pending, then eventually a CARB Exempt # will be available. If you need your car smogged immediately for registration in a new state, you have 2 options.

1. Swap out the Fujita with the stock for smog purposes, and switch it back when you are done.

2. Sell the Fujita and purchase AEM that has a CARB Exempt Sticker.

I think the best way to go is option #1.

if the car was purchased brand new, then you dont need to do another smog check for 5 years for the regular interval.

if you get pulled over without a carb sticker like i did, then you will have to get the car smogged at that point. if you keep the Fujita intake on and there is still no CARB exempt sticker on it by then, you will not pass smog. if you can get Fujita to send you a CARB sticker and you put it on, then it will pass smog.

I have an Injen intake and that intake has the CARB exempt sticker on it. it does now anyway, when i got it a couple years ago it didnt. i had to contact Injen and take a pic of my intake and send it to them for them to send me the CARB sticker to put on. Their intakes now should have it on them, if not, just give em a call.

btw, if something is pending, it doesnt necessarily mean it will be approved.

I brought it brand new, so I guessed my next smog check is 5 years later. What is the chance the cop will pop open my hood if I ever get pull over?? I am not going to do much on my type-s. 19" rims, 1" drop, and intake that's all. Do you think I will get in trouble?

when does number 2 deal with an injen cai?

op, lemme ask you this, why do u want a fujita so badly that it warrants not having the CARB sticker when the Injen and AEM have it already.

Well......... I don't know. Just seen most people on this forum get either AEM or Fujita. From what I read, AEM is loud most of the time and Fujita is quite most of the time and only get loud when you push the car. I want my car be quite most of the time and that's why I want Fujita. As between Fujita and Injen, I heard Fujita's filter is a lot better than Injen.

i actually heard that the fujita filter wasnt better then the injen one.

either way, all you need to consider is the type of filter on the intake. the name is just a name. a tube is just a tube. i actually have an AEM dryflow filter on my injen. i did my research on it and it filters better then the filters that came with the injen or older aem one.

up to u, CARB sticker is huge in cali. welcome to cali, aloha.

I just checked all their site and none of them are CARB certified for 07 TL type-s. So, I guessed I really needed to think about it.

which sites did you check? all you need to do is get it for the 04-06, i think they fit, does anyone who has a type-s with an aem or injen want to confirm that the 04-06 is the correct fit?

I know the 04-06 will fit on the 07 type-s, but they are not CARB certified for the 07. Also, I just got a email back from Fujita and they said their 04-06 intake won't fit the 07 type-s. weird...... I think they just wanted to be safe, so tell me they won't fit.
Now, I just have to think about the CARB issue. Either don't get the intake and not worry about it, or get it and worry about the smog issue later............

^^We don't have yearly inspections in Cali. ( Thank God, what a PITA ). So he only has to worry about when he smogs it.

Also, I've been to Hawaii. Why would you move here from there? I would love to live there.

It was nice living there. I lived there for 10 years. The weather, people, and foods are great, but "I CAN'T FIND A NICE JOB THERE." So, I decided going to back to school and get a master degree here in San Francisco and hopefully I can find a nice job after I am done with school.
