Head porting

I'm looking for good honda head porter. I saw a guy/company in California mentioned in magazine a while back. I believe a good head port job is worth about 40 hp.

Anyone?

Depends on how well the stock heads flow and how much extra meat is in them. Typically you can expect 20-70hp. Freeing up the intake like extrude honing the manifold, and freeing up the exhaust is mandatory. Bigger cams also compliment ported heads nicely.

if you have a bit of money to spend why not do this:
Port and Polish for heads, combustion chamber and intake manifold
Multi-angle job on the valves
Stiffer valve springs
Lightweight titanium valve retainers
custom cams
bored out throttle body
throttle body matched intake manifold
thermal gaskets

if you do any of this, make sure a reputable shop with a flowbench does it to show you numerical gains in flow.

Didn't USSI do this, with TL-S cams, and find little to no gain from it?

i'm sure there will be gains from it, i just don't know how much. it would be good to match port and extrude hone the intake manifold (upper and lower), if you gots the cash money to do it. might not be worth the money though.

he just got new valves and the TL-S cams and valve springs, I think it was a 2lb difference with the TL-S springs...

Personally I'd go for a upgraded cam before doing a port/polish, people say P2R is making some a cam for the J32A3 motor, but who knows.

Any idea of a price range for all this?
how about just for port n polish or extrude honing?

I've most all of this, and put oversized intake valves.

I def got gains from this... NO WAY in the range of 40hp.

What I found was the heads looked pretty free flowing. I didn't do a benchflow, I just saw the before and after. I did all these mods at once and I'm SURE it free'd up some HP. But the only way you're going to realize the benefits of this is if you are supercharged AND tuned.

i want to look more into this, since I pretty much squeezed all the "bolt-on" power outta my 5AT. Ussi, dont you have a thread on this? can you post a link, cuz ever since AZ modded the site, I can't find anything. the search engines are suckin' right now.
