Greddy EVO2 Installed.....Loud as Helllll!!!

Well I got a great deal on this exhaust! I love the agressive look, but this thing is loud as hell! I know everyone posted warning, but I couldn't pass up this deal. Plus I have been wanting a catback to further open my exhaust system. From 2k to 3k, the drone is terrible! It really hurts my ears!

The plus side is that my car is really pulling on high end (4k and up). Also did not loose much of anything on low end (none that I can tell). I also love the way the mufflers/tips matches my wheels.

But I need to find a solution to this. I don't think I can take this if it doesn't get any quieter. I'm not willing to chop it up to add an aftermarket resonater either. I will consider getting a shop to fab a 2.5" straight pipe with a resonater added. Then bolt up to the second section of the Greddy piping that includes the y-pipe.

Either way, I have got to get rid of the drone.

How old is the exhaust? It usually quietens down a bit after the initial thousand or so miles. I had greddy on my 02 TL-S and i loved it but the drone was the only thing I didnt liked about it, my suggestion would be to go with the second option. Get a shop to make you a custom b pipe with a resonator.

I think the previous owner had it on his car for a few months. I just installed it today.

Richie has a racepipe for $65, buy it, cut it in half, get an aero resonator and a 2 bolt flange that matches the greddy, and voila, straight section done without touching the greddy (also that resonated straight section can be sold to another aziner later on)

L O L I don't think its THAT loud. I have it and love it. However the drone part is understandable. I'd say just get the Aero 25 resonator installed and you should be golden.

Oh nice - I'm hating the drone from 2k-3k as well but couldn't figure out the part to create the resonator section. Thanks Stillhere, questions which never get asked, never get answered

Sounds like a plan, but isn't it better to have the resonator further to rear of the car (under the rear seats) to better reduce the drone?

Exactly why I stayed away from the Greddy. Haha

Listen to Al though... Aero resonator and the Jshift resonated test pipe and you should be golden.... at least on the drone front.

I was going to as well, but found that the Greddy makes the most power. You could tell that by the piping. After test driving it after the install, confirms my finding. However, the BIG trade-off is the drone!!!
I have the test pipe from Richie, but that didn't help at all. I will invest in the Aero resonator as soon as I get home from work!

Does anyone think the drone will reduce if I get the ATLP high flow cat instead of a resonator? Only reason I'm considering this is because I might want to do the precat deletes in the near future. Got to respect the environment!

I had to get rid of the drone on mine so I re-installed the stock front pipe (first from cat) with stock resonator and had a muffler shop fab up an extension and flange to connect it to the Greddy straight pipe. This killed almost all of the drone, but I also lost a little bit of power I think and I've still got great sound. I did that early this year, but now I think I want even less sound, so I'm thinking about reinstalling the other stock muffler section and connecting that somehow to the GReddy y-pipe. At this point, all I want is the look of the 2 cans sticking out the back and very little sound just when I punch it. I think I'm getting old.....

Well I guess it's my age, because this thing is loud to me. Just this morning I was backed into my drive way. Cranked the car; it vibrated my kitchen windows! That just too much for me man! I will probably keep the exhaust on for a little while. I will most likely go with another set up or go back to stock.

Going custom in IL is a huuuuuuuge PITA! I'm still aiming towards it but for the meantime, I picked up the CT catback... gonna try it out for a bit. If it doesn't work out, I might ditch it and do the Greddy, although I still have my Skunk2 mufflers.

I would chop the CT mufflers off but my mufflers won't fit on the CT piping.

Actually milk man and I was talking about this a couple of weeks ago. But if jmkiang and I have the exhausts that each other needs, then that would be easier for us. Sorry milk, I will keep you in mine if I decide to flat out sell it.

Yeah OK fine... fair is fair

Well, if I do end up keeping this CT catback or some variant of it, do you still want my AR25?

Well if you think it hurts your ears you are going to need more than a resonator like the Aero, you will need to put a muffler style can in. The Aero cuts down alot, but it is still fairly loud with it.....louder than Comptech or ATLP........

CT is fairly timid compared to the other catbacks offered... a good and bad thing I guess.

LOL....I hate to say "I told ya", but IMO the Greddy's extra ~2 whp over the resonated Excelerate or Comptech just isn't worth the noise. If I was 15 years younger maybe it'd be different.

Hell, you can pick up 2-3 whp on a good sized V6 just by using synthetic oil.

Update!

I just came from a shop. I had the guy replace the test pipe with my 3rd procat. I tamed the sound a little bit, but not much. It's not that bad now, but not as good as what a resonator could probably do. I think I did loose a little bit of power as well.

Here are some pictures. Excuse the dirty car.

I may need it; depending on what I want to do with the Greddy.

Since I took off my J-shift test pipe, I'm going to sell it.

Might want to do the precat deletes later. Not going to need the test pipe then. I got to have some sort of cat on my car.

Thanks. They look really nice and I was thinking of those or the Enkei GTC01 or Varianza T1S. So many nice wheels available. What to do what to do. LOL.

Anyways, prior to buying Greddy...why that over Comptech?
