Gasket matching

I notice this isn't brought up enough, but for those who have done porting, did you match the gaskets too or were they store bought?

Found this and it seems simple enough:

Gasket Matching Porting and Polishing Basics

Never done this before so probably need to practice. Any advice is welcome.

FYI

I have ported intake manifold, runners, and throttle body. None have been gasket match.

Well as far as I understood from AZ, the parts are ported to the size of the gasket openings. And the gaskets are bought (assuming they were replaced with new ones) from the dealer. Some have sent those new gaskets to the machine shop, etc along with the parts so the shop can port them to the size of the gasket openings.

For my PnP runners and intake I lined-up the new OEM gaskets between each mating surfaced and they matched perfectly no need to trim the gasket. Along with the bores being smoothed up the openings where matched to the gasket to create a smooth transition between pieces. I would be careful about modifying the stock metal gaskets since they have ridges that when compressed help create a seal.

if all those parts have been ported, they've been gasket matched as part of that.
