Simple.
Buy a G35.
Our engines are a different beast than the VQ.
it will never sound the same.
you can remove the mid-muffler and add a magnaflow resonator.
this is called stage 3 exhaust mod on here (acurazine)
go to youtube and type in stage 3 acura TL.

yes but he wants a G35 sound from an acura....
you tube will have to make due for him, until he realizes that he can't obtain the same sound.
and to the OP, there are several several several threads on this. the search button is your friend. use it.

Justnspace speaks the truth...
I too was in search of a way to make the exhaust note sound like the G35 at start up, you know that low rpm rumble, but no luck. you'll either have to do with the various stages you can take your OEM exhaust to, or you can purchase a after market exhaust to not only achieve an aggressive exhaust note, but also performance. RV6, ATLP, GREDDY, and XLR8 are the best options.

The amount of time you spent in this thread and to reply you could have searched like everyone mentioned. Just go ahead and remove the mid muffler and replace the oem resonator with a dynomax or similar. I ran that setup for a little bit until I upgraded to the Greddy Evo2 Catback.
Also not to mention you won't really notice a Stage 3 exhaust unless your above the 2500rpm range...

I have an xlr8 exhaust an aero25 resonator and an ulra quiet resonator ( which is more like a mid mufler). It sounds simialr to a g35 but not the same. I get a lot of compliments from other tl drivers.
But to answer your question, it will never sound like g35. And the money you need to spend to even get near the sound isn't very practical. But it depends on what you want. I added the the two resonators to try to quell drone.

The TL will never, ever sound like a G35. The VQ motor is DOHC and has lift on both the intake & exhaust sides (I think). The J series is SOHC and has lift on the intake side only.
This doesn't mean the J series motors don't sound good. There are many TL's out there that sound awesome. Just not like a G35. Take their suggestions and do any of the 3 "stage" stock exhausts. If you want performance too, but a catback.

You guys are putting way too much faith into the VQ35 if you think the motor creates that "G sound". The Altimas and Maximas share the same exact block and they don't sound like a G. The key to the G coupe (and Z) sound is the midpipe resonator and OEM crossflow muffler. I don't see why the TL motors couldn't create nearly the same sound by simply welding on the G coupe resonator and muffler. The problem though is how are you going to fit that crossflow muffler which mount sideways. G sedan owners have done it, but the muffler hangs done a bit. If you were wondering, the OEM G/Z exhaust piping is almost 2.5" ID. Is that close to the TL's?

u are right that the altima and maxima do not sound like a g. but its not the exhaust it is the motor like everyone is saying. if you were to put the g resonator and muffler on the altima or maxima they would sound like the g as that is the sound that the engine produces. exhausts dont make sound the quiet it down by the bends and resonators they have. therefore, if this same setup was on a TL you would not be able to reproduce the g sound

Hey guys Dave_b is correct my friend did it on his 05' TL im going to do it on my 06' i already have a smilar sound with Excelerate J-pipe and Race Pipe and mid muffler delet and Dyno resonator, but all you need it to cut and weld. my shop here in VA does that for a great price. so im looking online to find the G35 coupe parts soon give me time money is slowly coming in.
I know there was also someone else who did a g35 exhaust custom fit but he sold it he lived in NYC.
