Full Race Turbo for 3G
OK so I'm just throwing this out there... I was at a local performance shop in Saint Peters MO yesterday asking about getting a Dyno done and had a rather painful conversation with the owner (female)...
It was sort of like talking to a piece of Broccoli but here goes...
First of all I have been in this place before and each time I am in there I feel like this lady, who says she is the owner is just completely making shit up and yanking it straight out of her shitter. The place is called Adrenaline Motorsports - http://www.adrenalinexxx.com/
This is where it gets, weird...
Anyone know abybody at Full Race to verify? Not that it needs verification since it seems like a crock of shit.
My eyes hurt from this. Not even sure why I am posting. LOL

- Lady: What kind of car
- Chris: 2006 Acura TL
- Lady: Are you looking to tune? Do you have a Hondata?
- Chris: I just want dyno results to compare my original baseline and get progressive numbers as I start my 3.7 conversion. As far as I know The only Hondata or FlashPro option is for 07/08 and I would need to buy some conversion parts to make it work on my 06
- Lady: So you just need the pigtails?
- Chris: I am not sure
This is where it gets, weird...
- Lady: We are about to start testing for a Full race turbo for that car
- Chris: Really? The only turbo so far is the J&R
- Lady: That's why were are testing for them. Parts are coming in
- Chris: This is for a TL, not a TSX?
- Lady: Yea - I think so
- Chris: Oh, OK
- Lady: But it will only work with the Manual, not the Auto because of the power
- Chris: CRICKETS

I hate when people say the only turbo for this car is J&R... If you gave me a weekend I could make a "turbo kit" for this car. Turbo kits are for people to lazy and without the know how to make their own.
But on another note this chick sounds dumb.

to add to what Justin said....
1> For hondata you need the following:
ECU - 37820-RDB-A12 - $380.96 (DCH Acura)
HIM with HDS Version 2.020.023.USE. - Usually around $100 (Borrowed)
FP-US-TL (Hondata) - $675 (XLR8)
AEM Harness - not really needed but eliminated the need to cut/splice the factory harness. But so far, I only have 3 wires connected. Will eventually have 3 more for the Fuel Pump Module. Also remember I have an 06/6MT. THE easiest of the 3 years to retrofit. No rewiring, just adding.
CEL's thrown:
P2185 - ECT2 High Voltage (can be disabled with FP Manager)
P0627 - Fuel Pump Control Module System.
2> For the Turbo....when I was in touch with Rodney, he told me I could get the turbo and keep the boost low and make 380-400whp which the 5AT will be able to handle....
As Justin mentioned, Bert, smashed his AT when he was pushing upwards of 450HP....then he smashed his 3rd gear after swapping to 6MT (correct me if am wrong Justin) and he was pushing 550-ish whp....
for all I know is Rodney messed with multiple folks....he will still pop in and say "I will set things right" but its not gonna fucking happen....2+ years since everyone paid him....so am not sure what he is trying to pull off with the shop....
I would ask the shop "who are you working with @ JnR performance" and "how are you going to tune the build"....

Lol "a hondata".... Saying it like that would scare me a bit.
Anyone can piece together a turbo "kit"... The custom fabrication is where the hard work is. Thus, pre-fabbed kits such as the JnR, are much easier for a DIYer to deal with.

Is full race the name of a company? No one new is making a production turbo kit for the 3G TL, because it was wildly unpopular even for the those who mod their cars. The J&R kit is the only game in town and very high quality. I don't see why another company would make a kit for such a poor market.

Full Race is a popular kit for many Hondas/Acuras. Anyways, awhile back, Raffi Awakim at Full Race had mentioned to me that making a turbo kit for the Acura TL is not on their list or anything in the near future. Reason is because the amount of money being spent on this project is really going to cost more than the turbo kit itself. He later also added that since the V6 is a transverse, it is very difficult to make the kit in single or twin configuration. The last time FULL RACE added an estimate up to all the labor and parts involved, it would cost up near $10K. I'm sure once Flashpro is configured into other model year TL's, I'm sure more doors will open to us.
If you want to have a custom turbo made by Full Race, feel free.

in all honestly, am not even sure how people put down that much power....
I remember seeing Bert's video when he was @450whp and he was spinning 3rd....went from 60-90mph in less than a second coz of wheelspin
people pushing more than 400-450 HP will need to run 285+ section sticky tires just to cope up with that power

Call Full Race, talk to someone there on the team. Email sales@full-race.com or call 1-(866) FULL-RACE for any answers you need, don't post things that are by words. I'm sure the lady doesn't know her ACURA's really well and I'm sure the Turbo Kit is for the TSX and not a TL. / thead.

Lol... I'm with ya Anil I'm not sure about putting down that much power either...
I heard Andy yesterday talk about going for 900... Blew my mind. Race slicks ONLY I assume? If not good luck with that. Lol
375/400 is a perfect goal for me.

^^^ CHAD...350whp - 2800 lbs is where its at
for being anywhere close to 400, you will either have FI or NOS....
I know Andy was putting down ~200whp just from NOS.....guess what will happen when he presses the "GO Baby" button?
no points if you guessed wheelspin....unless race slicks.....

Yea....fully bolted, methed and tuned SC build is what I ultimately want to go for. 375 sounds right.
That is if I don't sell my car in ~ 2 months.

Mine was that exact thing just with the Comptech Piggy Back which held me back. It was fun and plenty for a FWD car. It torque steered all over the place!

And I also agree with your second statement as well. When I was wanting to add boost, I considered all sorts of various routes. Having local shops/welders do the work, do all the work myself, do the metal fab but have someone else weld it up, buy from J&R, have Hickam build it. But after doing extensive research online about buying pre-fabbed kits and running them, I quickly changed my mind about it. The reason being that when a kit is made without having the ability to mock the setup to engine/car, you have points on the kit that can greatly stress the welds or tubing and significantly reduce its integrity and structural strength. I also learned that having an experienced person perform the metal fabrication is very important due to the cuts and anglemofmthe cuts needing to be almost perfect as anything too wide would jeopardize the welds and their ability to withstand the harsh environment due to heat and vibration that the engine produces.
This is ultimately why I chose Matt to do the work. You can see how perfect his lines were and during the build, he sent me numerous pictures of the pieces and components before welding them up and you could see how the two (or more) pieces fit perfectly together with no wide gaps anywhere. Experience as well as multiple talents play a BIG part of properly building a turbo setup and if one of those aspects fall short, you can kiss the quality of the "kit" goodbye. As its often said, you get what you pay for. But you also need to be careful of what you need to get. Word.
