Fujita CAI bypass valve?

Anyone know where that bypass valve's supposed to be connected to? When I first got my short ram a way back when, I had it redirected from the stock box to some other line under the throttle head; i SPECIFICALLY remember smelling COOLANT (thought that was weird). That bypass valve I figured was for emergencies? say it sucks in water? but here in washington that rarely happens, so I just plugged it. Bad idea? is it supposed to go somewhere?
thanks again for your help!!!

never knew the bypass valve was supposed to be plugged into anywhere, I thought it just caught any water that may be sucked in

I believe it's more of a "restricted" flow filter; something like..

Cone Filter - Not restrictive - majority of air enters here
Bypass "valve" - Foam Filter - Pretty restrictive

So the engine will mostly be pulling air through the cone filter on the CAI; except when it's submerged in water - since the water is harder to suck in the airflow diverts to coming in from the bypass valve, stopping the suction of water at the bottom

I think maybe there might be some sort of rubber gasket involved too or something.. don't know for sure that's just how I think it would work

On the AEM website it looks like a foam filter that goes inline with the CAI tubing.. maybe the injen using something different..

yeah i've heard that too (motor can suck in the small sponge like foam). PLUS when I actually got the cai, it came with extra rubber...piping if you will...for the bypass valve to plug into something...hm...odd

CAI Bypass Valve

The bypass valves sold by AEM and Fujita don't trap the water, they open up and let air in through the foam around the valve.

The bypass valve installs between the throttle body and the CAI. If your CAI is trying to suck up water because the filter is under water, it creates a low pressure area at the throttle body that causes the bypass valve to open to let air in. This prevents the water from getting to the throttle body and into the engine.
