^i am under the impression, that all you want the dealer to do is program the vin to the ECU.
so, YOU install type-s ECU in dealers parking lot. (call ahead to get you a scheduled appointment, and ask for them to pair the ECU with vin.)
after you install the ECU, have them pair the VIN with the ECU.
you now have a working type-s ECU in your non type-s car.
I would go home for the next part.
installing flashpro and harness, which comes with base maps so that if you wanted to get it tuned by a tuner, you could drive it to a tuning shop.

Are you referring to the Canbus harness? Does the immobilizer communicate on K-Line or Canbus? If it is canbus, you will need that done BEFORE going to the dealer I think.

This is what is confusing. My impression was that the adapter harness has little to do with the interface between the ECU and the Flashpro. Rather, the adapter harness makes it so the newer protocol ECU can be retrofitted into my older vehicle. That is, I don't think that you can just plop an 07/08 ECU into my '06 6MT, plug 'n' play style.
The other harness, or Canbus adapter is what is required for the Hondata and dealer systems to communicate with the 07/08 ECU in a 04-06 car.
Unless someone confirms my understanding, take this as speculation.

The way I understand it, there are 2 harnesses. An ECU jumper harness - this allows you to use the 07/08 ECU in an 04-06 car, and it would be 'plug and play' if there were no immobilizer.

When I converted ECU's I got all the wiring ready and got the 04 ECU out but not disconnected before I went to dealer. I didn't disconnect my 04 ECU, the dealer installed the harness and then made sure the can bus was installed correctly, meaning they could communicate and write the vin to the new TL-S ECU. Cost me about $50 dollars at an Acura dealership, I worked out a deal with them since I purchased the new TL-S ECU from them.
Be sure to bring all the instructions along to help the Tech's out.

VicTL06 is your 06 equipped with NAV and TPMS? If so you need to get the right adaptor from Hondata. Since the 06 MT with Navi has a full CANBUS, an different harness is needed to tap into the CANBUS right on the 06 ECU instead of under the dash like the 04-05 6 MT TL's and the 06 6MT non-Navi. Checkout Hondata's website for all the deats.

- Run the CANBUS cable adatper from the OBD2 to the DLC connector.
- Wire it, as per the instructions. You are still using your OEM ECU at this point.
- Drive to an Acura dealer and have them install the adapter and new ECU.
- Have the Acura tech confirm that they can communicate with the newly installed 07/08 ECU.
- Have the Acura tech reprogram the ECU with your VIN, so that the immobilizer matches up.
- Drive to your tuner and have them tune the new ECU with Flashpro.

Yes, '06 6MT w/Navi & TPMS. OK, so I think I get it now: for mine, there are actually 2 adapters: the CANBUS cable adapter and the ECU adapter.

I'm not sure what's up with the TPMS but I never had to do anything with that.
If you do your homework, I am pretty sure you can avoid the $350 harness, just buy the CAN kit for the DLC pins and then locate the CAN-H and CAN-L at the ecu and tap it using quicktaps.
