first mod(s)

A few inquiries...

I have an 06 TL 6MT Navi with no mods. I am first looking to get a dyno run in to get my numbers before any additions. I live in MA, and have only found New England Dyno & Tuning http://www.nedyno.com/ in Douglas to be my only option to get my tests. I can get 3-4 pulls w/ Air/Fuel (Baseline Test) for $75. However, if there is a place you guys recommend around the area, please let me know.

What should I be expecting to get out of a baseline test? I know it's 258HP on the books, but putting it on the road I should expect +/-210HP?

So, after the test what is recommended that I get done first.
I am a noob however, and also under warranty, therefore I don't want to get into any issues with that, and want to stay legal (at least for now)

I did some prelim. searching and think I should go in this order

1.
AEM V2 Intake (+/-$300)

From what I understand, no modification is needed under the hood as this item should fit.
Also, from what it seems, it's a 17-19HP addition, am I correct with this assumption?
Will do a test again thereafter unless you guys think it's a waste of cash money and I should get the 2nd part done first?

2.
ATLP J-Pipe ($400) or ATLP Quad Exhaust ($1,100)

If I put in the j-pipe, do the exhausts stay or would I need knew ones? Also, do I need a new catalytic converter? Sorry, like I said, total noob.
Looking at +/- 7HP?

The quad would replace the j-pipe, therefore am I better off just getting this?
From what I "hear" it does make the TL sound a lot better... as well as the other obvious reasons.
+/-11HP?

Not sure what to do next or instead.
Plaese correct/add the above as you see fit.

Thanks guys,
paweł

Up to you really. I'm going to dyno mine stock. I pretty much know what it will be. I'm going to order everything at once when I'm ready and then go back to the dyno.

The quad exhaust does not replace the j-pipe. They are 2 separate pieces.

Start off with the v2 intake.

Then when you do your exhaust do everything all at once. Unfortunately there are only limited supplies of the ATLP product so if you see them on the Black Market of the forums I would pick it up that or contact Mike from ATLP.

Your HP increase numbers are way to optimistic, but you will get some gains

I thought I saw that the quad did come with a j-pipe, must have misread it. Would you guys recommend a different "brand" for j-pipe/exhaust?
And if I only do the j-pipe, the sound would still change or?
Thanks

First, Welcome to Acurazine!

RV6 or ATLP J-pipe, both vendors on Acurazine.

If I were you, I would lean towards two items before for performance reasons. Rear Sway Bar and UR Pulley. Exterior: A SPEC body kit, Tein SS

Intake would give you more like 5-7hp.

so you want the truth? i did before and after dynos IN THE EXACT SAME CONDITIONS, EXACT same dyno 2 days after base.

before: 232whp SAE CORRECTED
after rv6 precat deletes, jpipe, race pipe, aem v2, underdrive pulley, greddy: 267whp SAE CORRECTED

rv6 package: 15whp
aem v2: 5whp
pulley: 5whp free'd up
greddy: 10whp

i figure the auto drivetrain loss is more like 20-22%, and manual around 17-19%

If you wouldn't mind sharing, what was the total cost of all this, ballpark at least.

Thank you so much,

ATLP quads do not exist anymore. So your outta luck. I just got my V2 ready today and it will be installed tonight so I'm excited about that.

I would say, jpipe, precat deletes, aem v2, and pulley. In that order to gain the most power. Exhaust can come later.

I would start with a CAI or cold air intake like the AEM v2 you are thinking about, $300 is a nice starting point. I started with the supercharger, but to each his own

Exhaust is more expensive, $950-$1100 range and where the most illegal mod part offered for the TL comes into the picture. The Pre-cat deletes, this is straight pipe replacing your orginal Cats and is very ilegal in all states.
The ATLP stuff is limited production and very sought after, I am not sure if there are any being made, but I would jump on it if Mike from ATLP has anything for the TL left.

As far as the dyno situation I would have it done as few times as possable to keep down the dyno cost and thrashing on your car. Do a base line to see what you started with and another once you have some parts instaled.

1. Intake
2. ATLP J-pipe, ATLP race pipe( 3rd cat delete, still have 2 stock cats), ATLP or other cat back exhaust. Get the power up before doing apperance mods like rims, a-spec kits, and springs. Cops are attracted to apperance mods and that crap falls off at 100+.
