A/F Gauge

So got a dumb question but thought I would ask anyway. So my A/F guage reads 16 (max) when I let off the gas. Normal driving it is around 14.2.

I know it reads so high because I am not giving it fuel but is this normal?

I don't remember the A/F in my CLS doing it

If you have a narrow band gauge it will not be accurate in general anyhow.

Yes however, my supra goes well past 20:1 LEAN when i drop throttle and decel in gear. cruising at 14.7:1 is ok, thats a stoich(perfect) mixture for a gasoline based engine, e85 capable and diesels will be different good mixtures due to energy per gallon basically.

the tune on my supra allows for cruising at 16:1 or leaner under certain conditions, and that car gets better mileage than my TL haha.

From the sound of things, everything is fine, and your CL may just have had a stock narrowband sensor. The 3g TL i believe will have a 5 wire wideband, and will be a better, more precise metering tool, especially based on its ULEV status.

Take care
Mark

Thanks for the input!

I went with the autometer nexus gauges. They are pretty sweet although they ordered the 0-60 boost gauge instead of the 0-30 so it basically goes no where. As soon as it is replaced I am posting a vid for the the color change, peak, warn, and recording.

You can take an SD card and record the gauges then view using their software.

^+1. narrow band a/f gauge is next to useless. invest in a wideband its worth every penny. i have the aem uego which comes with a bosch sensor. im going on 1 1/2 years and hasnt failed me yet.

bent09, congrats on the SCer. are you getting tired of the bucking and serging yet?

2 Years for me on an FJO System with an NTK sensor. I couldnt use a BOSCH style because of leaded fuel, the only sensors that are not compromised by leaded fuel.
