Exhaust recommendations?

I just picked up my 2006 TL with Nav. I'd like to upgrade to a better performing exhaust. Any recommendations? Do any of them have the same tip as the stock. They fit nicely and I wanted to keep them if possible.

Right now, I'm looking at the Comptech. Any opinions? What else should I consider?

Most important is performance. Secondary is looks. I'd also like to keep the car sounding composed as opposed to annoyingly loud.

Thanks.

Magnaflow isn't the way to go. I wouldn't do it again. There really isnt that much restriction in the stock system.

If you upgrade everything, yeah go for it. But if you like driving 70 mph and not hearing your exhaust I wouldn't upgrade.

If you want to get close to the g35 exhaust note/sound (350z, fx etc...) take out the resignators, and replace w/ a Magnaflow resignator. SOUNDS AMAZING. performance wise i dont think your getting anything (I think i lost maybe 10lbs or so). If you want more info I have the link for the part number and what not.

Oh welcome to the form.

This is great info guys. Thanks so much!!

If you don't think I'll gain much power, I'll probably save the money. I kinda like the look of the stock exhaust anyway.

I do want to get a little bit more sound out of the exhaust. I think the G35 sounds pretty good. So you think I should replace the resonator? Where can I get one and how much do they cost?

Just out of curiosity, is the Comptech exhaust the same look as the stock or is it a round tip? I heard it's fairly quiet. Is that true?

Has any exhaust system dyno'd with improvements?

Thanks again.

https://acurazine.com/forums/car-parts-sale-361/wtb-2-2-2-3-aem-cai-130133/

This should help you w/ the part #, size, cost, etc.. I replaced the stock resonators w/ a straight pipe, and a Magnaflow resonator. you'll understand better w/ the pic on page 5. (just read the link hehe)

For $50+install Its an amazing deal to achieve the sound that you will be getting (g35,fx,350z etc..)

The Comptech exhaust tips are round, i believe they are 4inch tips (not my cup of tea)... but they might free up some ponies IF and MAYBE you have other mods (CAI, S/C, etc...)

Im sure if you go w/ this setup its going to be louder then the Comptech exhaust. Not taking anything away from Comptech though, very good company, w/ good products

Hope this helped.

Thanks Brownie! I think I'll remove the mid-muffler first and see how it sounds. I may ask you for some advice later though.

Comptech Some increased performance (5-7 HP), deep throaty tone, quiet at idle, great craftsmanship and quality, perfect fit.

Have you ever seen the inside of a stock Honda muffler, it's VERY restrictive... I don't hear my magnaflow at 70, when I'm at a steady throttle..

No problem. When i got mine done, i just did both at the same time. Let me know how you like it w/ just the mid-muffler removed.
