Exhaust question

Hello all.

I was wondering if it would make my TL-S sound better if I removed the cat after the J-pipe- the resonator and that small mid muffler- and replaced them with a straight pipe and a free-er flowing y before the rear mufflers?

I do not want to remove the stock rear mufflers because I want the car to look stock. I doubt that removing the above pieces will give much extra HP, but I was wondering if anyone else has done this?

Thanks.

Will notice a huge difference in sound. Not so much notice in horsepower. Plus being catless is illegal(don't know if florida has smog inspection). Honestly, your better off just getting a catback, but chopping the stock exhaust is a quick fix for sound

Just did it last weekend... removed main cat, mid muffler, and resonator... replaced all with straight pipe, and put a 14" glasspack in where the main cat was... I like it, and it seems to give it a bit more pep... not a bunch, but enough to be able to tell, something's different.

to keep things stocky, replace j pipe and install aero resonator in place of stock resonator and remove mid muffler. The sound will be much throttier without sacrificing the luxury of the car. In my case I went all out because of the supercharger, but thats me.

get rid of the cat and do a straightpipe back...hmmm... that might be a good idea, and plus it would save a bit of money since not much welding is involved.

I paid $40 for the guy to cut and weld the three pieces up in there, and I paid $20 something for the glasspack (got it from Summitracing.com, it's their brand glasspack).
