man this kit will pay for itself after 2 clutch job. No joke, you cannot resurface the OEM acrua flywheel because it is dual mass and it has stepping. Its very hard to do so correctly and its about 600 a pop from acura. Rather get josh kit and then have it resurface if I never need to do a clutch job again. simple ^^

You can resurface an oem flywheel, you just have to find a knowledgeable machine shop to do it. It has been done, although acura suggest changing it when you change the clutch. However you cannot resurface the aluminum flywheel. It is desigened to have the replaceable contact pad.

ooo I though it was billet. But still its all good.
I also didn't know that people have also resurface their flywheels. I have the OEM shop manual and it says to replace it.

XLR8, if there is any updateable progress on your new clutch, can you chime in on this?
I have a S/C'd CL-S6 that will need a new clutch soon and I'm planning to run something other than OEM for this third replacement.
If you would rather use PM that would be fine.
Thanks!

The prices for the XLR8 clutch kits will be as follows:
$1300 Stage 1 organic disc 480 wtq
$1450 Stage 2 kevlar disc 500 wtq
$1650 Stage 3 organic/feramic disc 525 wtq
$1800 Stage 4 puck style/ or any other custom disc 550+ wtq
All of these kits will include a 20lb single mass aluminum flywheel, 2500 lb non self adjusting conversion pressure plate, 6 spring aftermarket design friction disk, throw out bearing, and alignment tool.
The kits for the OE flywheel will be $350 dollars less. The stages with the different material will be for daily divers, endurance drivers and drag racers respectively. The tq numbers are estimations.
So the question will be: Why is your kit more expensive than CM's kit?
The CM kit only uses a 14 lb aluminum flywheel; our flywheel is 20 lbs. The CM pressure plate is only 2200 lbs; ours is a 2500 lb pressure plate. The CM clutch kit doesn't hold as much power as ours and it's pucked. If you want streetability you want our kit b/c it uses a full faced disc and it holds more power. All in all you will have less pedal effort and more holding capacity with less chatter and better components.

This is made for us directly and is not being sold as a production item. The company will not sell it to any retail or wholesale customer other than us. I can tell you that it is a company who has been in business for a long time and is well-versed in clutch manufacturing.

There never seemed to be enough interest so I never mass produced these. However, email me at sales@excelerateperformance.com to discuss further. I do have a Stage 3 kit in stock that I want to get some feedback on.
I will hit you up soon about a kit. I have just been waiting for my clutch to die, I might need to just bite the bullet and replace it.

I was thinking the same. I did some research on the hybrid discs (organic/ceramic) and I have to question the reliability. After spending $1300 on the clutch masters kit, I don't know if I can handle another $1300ish clutch slipping. I am mostly a conservative driver which made me surprised that the fx300 clutch slipped. How long would it take to make a stage 1 kit with the organic disc and would the same discount apply to the tester?

XLR8 I am not doubting you guys in anyway. I just want to make sure I am gonna get a clutch that suits my needs. I have been trying to figure out why my fx300 clutch started slipping, perhaps maybe it wasn't suited for city driving daily, I don't know. I am just looking for a clutch that will last as long if not longer than OEM and handle the abuse as well as any track/road racing events which would only probably make up 10% of the driving the car will go through. In addition, a stiffer pedal because I don't care much for the self- adjusting pressure plate. I've read it's the weakest link in the OEM clutch.
I have a few more questions.
Since you guys are using a 2500lb pressure plate for all your clutches vs 2200lb from CM does that mean the pedal will be stiffer if not as stiff as my fx300 in all the setups?
If I opt for the OEM flywheel, will it make any difference in longevity vs your lightweight flywheel or are both equal and depend on how it's driven?
How long will it take to make the stage 1 organic disc and does price include shipping for the tester?

So yeah I took the car to the shop today. It turns out that the clutch isn't slipping. But apparently I had air in the system. I guess the clutch is still going...

I am tempted to try this setup out. Will pm excelerate about it.
I noticed if you go to xlr8's webstore, they have dxd/southbend clutch kits listed that look just like the pics in this thread, so I would assume that is the manufacturer.
