Excelerate Performance Needs a Test Fitter for a Brake Kit!!!

Excelerate Performance has been working closely with STOPTECH for well over a year now to develop a Big Brake Kit for the 3rd gen TL. The kit will include one piece 328MM slotted or drilled discs, ST-41 4 piston calipers (red, black or silver), caliper brackets, STOPTECH Performance Street pads, and stainless steel brake lines.

We are in need of a tester in the Compton, CA area (near Long Beach and Los Angeles). The components are now ready for test fitment. We can schedule someone any time; we just need to give the manufacturer a few days notice so that we can make sure the lift will be open and get insurance paperwork filled out.

The car will be needed for a full day on two separate business days (M-F , 8am-5pm): one day to confirm the fit of the kit and another day about two weeks later to perform a driving evaluation. If the customer needs to leave the vehicle over night, then we can facilitate that.

Please PM or email me at sales@excelerateperformance.com if you are available. The test fitter will get the brake kit at a extremely discounted price.

I should have clarified in the beginning that this kit is for the non-Brembo setup. So this will not fit Type S Models or Manual Base Models.

The kit will list out for around $1300 with slotted rotors. It will hit the market for around $1150 or so. The initial tester will get the kit for $850, which is much lower than our cost. If you are interested in volunteering please email us at sales@excelerateperformance with your name and vehicle info. Also, we will need the following:

VIN
Estimated value of the vehicle

I appreciate the offer but it must be done at the facility in CA. This isn't a feedback need like on our suspension. This is an actual test fitment and the brake manufacturer must do this in person with the engineers.

I live in Harbor City, CA and work at Compton, CA.
Just bought my TL few days ago. 07 5AT. I would love the big brake kit but $850 is little too much..

We need someone but someone in the area we specified. The kit has to be installed by the manufacturer. We have two people interested right now but no commitment yet.

Just a quick update. The initial tester went in yesterday and everything fit perfectly. We are scheduling another appointment in about 2 weeks for a test drive and evaluation. Look for this Big Brake Kit to be available for sale by the end of January.

So is this kit the same as the regular Stoptech TL kit, just with 1-piece rotors? About $500 less than the floating rotor kit. Can you tell us about the rotors? Curved vanes, etc...

The STOPTECH Big Brake Kit is a two piece 328X28mm disc with ST-40 4 piston calipers.

The XLR8 Big Brake Kit by STOPTECH is a one piece 328mm disc with ST-41 4 piston calipers, which are slightly smaller. The discs, which are the same diameter, are a one piece construction and at this time do not have curved vanes. They do employ the power alloy compound though. The kit we have worked with STOPTECH to design is very similar to their Touring Big Brake Kit. It includes basically everything the STOPTECH BBK includes: 328mm machined rotors (slotted, drilled or drilled/slotted), 4 piston calipers, STOPTECH Performance pads, Stainless Steel Brake Lines, and Caliper Brackets.

I'm providing a link below for more info:

http://stoptech.com/products/big-bra...big-brake-kits

StopTech® Touring Big Brake Kits® are the ultimate in 1-piece rotor brake upgrade systems and represent the best performance value in the StopTech® lineup.

They offer nearly the same performance as the StopTech® Big Brake Kits and Trophy full race systems at a more affordable price point. Designed for street driven production vehicles, StopTech® Touring Kits include forged 2-piece calipers, larger 1-piece rotors, StopTech® Stainless Steel Brake Lines, StopTech® Street Performance Brake Pads and application-specific caliper brackets.

The stiff 2-piece, fully-forged calipers have designated piston sizes specific to each application and provide a firmer, more responsive brake pedal that provides better brake pedal modulation. Depending on the application, Touring Big Brake Kits® are available in two-, four- and six-piston configurations and 5 different caliper colors that use a special high temperature paint to withstand extreme conditions. All StopTech® Touring Big Brake Kits® include stiff calipers that utilize silicone dust boots to extend service intervals.

The larger 1-piece rotors, available in Power Slot® slotted, or StopTech® SportStop® drilled and drilled/slotted finishes, provide greater heat capacity and reduced brake fade. Also assisting in fade resistance and higher performance are the StopTech® Street Performance Pads® which have a high maximum operating temperature, and high bite for responsive brakes that can be driven hard.

Under what offset and type of wheels were they tested under?

The offset of the wheel doesn't matter. It's the spoke design. Each wheel will be different. This is why you can usually find printable cutout templates to check your specific wheels clearances. Chances are if the wheel fits the 6MT with Brembos, it will fit this kit as well.

The customer had aftermarket wheels. We do have a BBK fitment chart though which we can share once the kit goes into production.

Any updates? I need this kit like yesterday. This wonderful Rotora kit now has a HUGE crack through the face of the rotor making the car unsafe to drive.

I can get the 14.1" Rotora kit in the BM for about the same price but I really want nothing to do with Rotora and Stoptech is the better performer anyway.

Hopefully this kit will be out soon, I've got to do something soon.

The final test fitment and evaluation is this Monday, the 13th. We will go into full product after that. I'm expecting it will clear factory 3G TL wheels. I will know more soon. If someone is willing to do a test fitment for me I can send them the wheel template. Just email me at sales@excelerateperformance.com

I tried it out, looks like these should fit under the stock rims just barely. Paypal is ready to go the second this kit is available.

Any updates? My Rotoras just went metal to metal, it actually makes me feel good to hear them grinding in pain lol. Not going to buy pads for these.

I was at the Stoptech facility today getting the BBK installed. First of all let me say that they are great, they were very pleasant to me while i was waiting, even though they don't deal with customers directly. This is an awesome company which is local to me and i had no idea of their great products While i was there was a suby and audi rs8 that came in wanting to get BBK, i guess those guys knew the owners or something, not counting all the employee cars with Stoptech BBK on all corners, i wish i had taken my camera. This was my second visit here and again i was very satisfied of their professionalism. I was there at around 8:45am and I got the car back at 4:55pm. I guess they were testing, installing all that good stuff. The traffic home was horrible and i got home at around 6pm and it was already dark outside to take pictures. I will get some pics tomorrow and post them up. Now regarding the BBK performance, i was in stop and go traffic most of the time but it felt really good, when i was braking i could feel that this is a good product, more info will be provided as i pass the time to take it easy on them. I don't regret getting this and plus that it looks very sexy behind my wheels, i got the black color calipers and the disks are vented. More to come as time goes on.
