Played around alittle bit more with the torque pro. It logs about everything you can think of and maps it for you on their site where you can then look back at it. Pretty cool. when I get my JnR ECU, i'll compare the two. Theoretically, they should be the same as its getting the information from the OBDII... $1300ECU vs $30 "logger" LOL.

Ok with talks of monitoring and data logging ,what are we logging , OEM ECU PARAMETERS ? Or MS3 functions ? This needs to be addressed and need to know what you are logging as with ms3 is quiet straight forward ill post ootions links ect if needed

If you think these are at all in the same league, you need to do some serious research and reading.
One is just a scanner that can just store data, the other can totally transform your ride along with storing data.
I am still wondering why anyone getting the MS3 and wideband a/f needs a obdii scanner. I have an OT-2 and don't plan on using it at all.

I think they are talking about more than just a OB2 scanner.. actually something that can do true logging using droid app.. torque pro... with the MS3 we can use the droid tuner studio app which I think is free.. just cant do live tuning using the droid tuner studio app

PS: before you go all Serena Williams on me better is subjective....for some the more the better and for some the more relevant data the better....

I think he was just comparing the logging capabilities of both....I think Alex was just trying to see which one logs "better"

Alex, what interface are you using with Torque Pro. I've been questioning why people have been considering this but I've already got a bluetooth enabled scanner. I may give it a try.

they have this for the iphone:
they have this for the iphone:
Firstly,
I hate guages coz they just dont look good on a TL (IMO)....but i want to monitor couple engine parameters and am looking for couple options....
Option 1: (kinda biased towards it) PLX WIFI system
It connects to the OBDII port and transmits data via wifi to your iPad/iPhone. The app is DashCommand ($50) and the hardware is ($200). You can connect couple more sensors (Exhaust Gas Temperature + AFR wideband) and have it displayed on the Ipad/Iphone via IMFD. Sensors for EGT and AFR are like $300. So total cost is $550.
Links:
Dash command: http://www.plxkiwi.com/kiwiwifi/software.html
PLX WIFI Hardware: http://www.plxkiwi.com/kiwiwifi/hardware.html
Cons:
No good reviews on the app.
I dont wanna waste $250
$550 YIKES
No (easy, no hassle) return policy, etc
Pros:
Neat graphics
Displays on your Iphone/Ipad, no separate display needed.
G-skid pad is awesome (heard)

I bought it just to fool around with the logging and gauges, benefit also being a obdII scanner that i can use with other cars. for $30, it was worth it. My 1300 vs 30 logger was a joke bro. Thanks anil for answering that for me. Damn kn... You really thought i didn't know the difference lol... Rodney, Can you post a log file to see what one looks like? For torque pro its just an excel sheet very easy to read and understand. in no TRUE way was i comparing the two. I'll compare the two tho for those that dont have the ecu and can benefit from playing around with it..

Yeah, sorry man, major brain fart.
The MS3 uses MegaLogViewer to view the logs, although I have yet to be able to use it.

Hope this isn't also something you already know

No. I actually haven't done any research on anything on the Ms3... Im just prepped up for it. Shit if you haven't got it to work and you've had yours for a while now, what does that mean for us?

Just that I haven't had the time to do anything yet. Work and other stuff keep getting in the way and I just got heat in my garage so I can work out there without freezing my ass off.
My TL has been a garage queen since I started the turbo project and I get involved with things like carputer that just slow me down. I want to be able to display the dashboard of the MS3 on my navi screen and having a bitch of a time getting the stock display to work correctly. Had previously worked up a 7" LCD but it seemed to small for me.
Anyway, I am a little further than you guys on comfort level and working with TunerStudio but believe me, it's not all that difficult. Once I got over the initial fear of screwing something up, it's been very easy to work with.

Im def not scared. I just CURRENTLY dont know anything about it. Once i know what needs adjustments to make run properly and the whole nine. ima be all over that shit. Its hard without it in my hands... I can only read so much about it and what it does without actually doing it and seeing the results of minor changes to effect whatever it is i changed. not EVERY aspec of the ms3 needs to be learned so im just trying to learn what i need to get me running as safe and as powerful as possible. Its different for us cuz we're FI... Andy seems to have his really downpack with all his changes to his motor and the tuning. I'm dying just to throw everything and take it out for a drive

^^^ those look neat as well....recently someone posted some great review about Dashcommand on Azine....
EDIT: here it is:
EDIT: here it is:
Okay got this working. The trick was to download the new gopoing MPG app, which updates the firmware of the BT1, so that it works with dashcommand.
Swoosh - not true.
Gopoint BT1 adapter - $85 shipped on Amazon ($100 regular price).
DashCommand App - $50 from Apple Store - BUT - Best Buy has $100 gift cards for $80 right now, so call it $30.
Total Cost to me - $115.
DashCommand allows you to monitor the ECU via a bluetooth interface. The little device snaps right on the diagnostic port. You bluetooth pair it to your iphone - and boom, you're done.
It reads MAF, MAP, IAT, Water Temp, TACH, and numerous other things. I just want it to read the MAF mainly to see if this confounded SRI is doing anything, or if the sensor can't read the difference.
Cool thing about it - completely portable, no wiring. Go to the dealership, test drive a TL, snap it on, read the MAF output at WOT and see if it matches up.
It also does datalogging, G force metering, track times, gas mileage, and supposedly can do torque and HP readings as well (skeptical).
Havent gotten to play with it as I just got it working, but I'll check it out later.

$80-$90 PLX KIWI bluetoooth + $5 Torque Pro App = plenty of datalogging, realtime gauges (6-7-8 at a time, all you can see depending on your vision), all kinds of faces, digital, dial etc, gps dataloging, fuel trims, every parameter you can think of, and that you probably didn't even know of. Read and clear CEL codes, etc etc. You'll be looking at more than a pilot can see flying a modern aircraft.
Really guys, how much do you wanna see? most of it is irrelevant. Most parameters get thrown off due to the very few important ones going outta whack if something was to happen, so you don't need to see everything....but thats just me

the one thing with the MS3 is that the android software does not give you guages yet for the MS3... well I say that from what I gather from the tunerstudio website.. they only have logging available for android.. the site states they will work on items for the future but they first want to make sure it sends data correctly using their bluetooth device.. now a laptop to it can show everything but then you will need to keep something hardwired to it
I was looking at torque pro because I want to get better at shifting and handling my car better.. I know I should do it by feel but until then I wanted to use their shift light and other useful information to understand the car better.. it will have less valuable data once I have the MS3 but it will still have the shift light
not sure if I am going to pull the trigger for it but my two cents is that torque pro is very good if you are using the stock ECU

went through that, and I think it will have to be messed with a little, but if the bluetooth output can send out the data then will need a device/software to be able to read it.. not sure if the shadowlogger android software can read it... but good info and more things to play with
well need to dig into it.. dont want to break the Ms3 when I get it but be curious how much I can do with it

It would be pretty hard to break the MS3 and as long as you aren't making huge changes, you can see what is happening immediately and change things back.
I am constantly reading and poking around TunerStudio at the same time. The information is a bit scattered but most of it is there.
Still trying to figure out the WMI though. That one seems to be something that not many are using. IHC has me spooked a little since I may go into territory where I will depend on it.
