Emissions test w/precat delete

So, a friend of mine has a 3rd gen TL and is starting to mod is car but was wondering about the PreCat Delete. We have read around the forums saying that people have passed with the PreCat Delete during there Emissions test, and most people said you would fail. So, I was wondering how many people did not fail and how many people passed the Emissions test. we need to know before he does the mod. Thanks.

I think some states don't have emission testing, because with no cats to clean up the exhaust you will fail smog not to mention if they do a visual inspection the tech will fail you on that too.

People have passed smog with Pro-cats which are hi flow cats, but with the visual inspections the car would fail anyway.

To pass a visual, all you have to do is find a lazy tech. Besides, most people have no idea that our cars have pre cats so they wont notice that its missing.

I am not sure about pre cats, some people are lazy and some dont know we have them or will look for them. The third cat can be a high flow or race pipe( but just keep the heat shield on it). Or just go to a private inspection, downfall is that it will cost you around 70 bucks.

in Connecticut if its OBD-II (Post 95/96) then they only do an obd plug, NO sniffer. They also are required to visually inspect for a cat. Majority of the time they look for the 3rd cat since thats the only cat on most cars so if you do the ATLP test pipe and put the heatshield on or do a hi flow or something then you're fine. I'm doing PCD and a resonated test pipe and hoping they think its a hi flow cat.

Here in texas it depends if you live in the city or not. Small towns are very flexible and strictly do a basic test. In the cities such as Houston or Dallas, you get the full work-up with the sniffer as n3o said. I've heard of people passing, but you need to know the shop owner/tech...

The last time I ever did an emission inspection in WA, the tech didnt even look under the vehicle for a cat. I suppose if there is no DTC then they probably wouldnt even bother to look. I've had emission testing done in Kirkland and in Spokane.
