^ Are these things still around? You're talkin' about hiflow replacements for the two main cats that come straight out of the head right? I thought these things were no good. Didn't some guy with a V6 Accord get the element in the cats turned into brittle cakes? Or are you talkin' about something else?

I hear they're garbage.

Either get type-s cats or precat deletes.

well, no wonder I have not heard about them in a long time. I am just thinking of more performance mods

And yes I believe it is the type-s engine, just tuned much differently

The E-Shift cats were not ULEV rated cats...which tend to run hotter than LEV cats....which is what I believe those cats were rated at. Therefore....they have a tendency to burn up prematurely. Did they make more power....yes. But given there are precat deletes and third cat delete solutions out there now....I would highly recommend going that route.

If someone develops a high flow ULEV rated cat (I think you could insert TYPE-S cats here possibly as a mid-level solution as they are higher flowing than non type s cats in previous years and are ULEV rated) then this would then be a good option for the enviro-consc people. Fact is...if there is a good solution...we should all probably be running cats. But for my purposes...they just got in the way. But I dont daily my car that often either...could....but its not as comfortable as some other options I have.

When you think about it, a Magnaflow high flow cat can be purchased brand new for ~$100+... weld on some additional piping/flanges, O2 sensor holes and voila!

Obviously its more complicated than that but $1000??

I'm running Type-S precats after RV6 deletes... love it.

Shawn, have any RL owners tested the RV6 deletes? I'm guessing they won't fit ...

Believe or not, I am still running my E-Shift cats. And they were one of the first ones. Over 30k on them. Given I live in a warmer climate, therefore they do not have to fire as hot at start. I am going to pull the third cat at some point this summer to see if there are any pieces from the upper cats.

They have worked well for me. Then again, I have been N/A the whole time.

no one has tested it...You have to do tests when it comes to the RL

BUT i read in a thread where someone said that the E-shift pro-cats from the TL-S and it would fit....so

I just installed my USED E-shift procats last weekend with the ATLP j-pipe and test pipe the power and tone (stock exhaust) is unbelievable!! Not sure how many miles were in them before but the element inside looked great. Im sure they will last... until I finally get a SC then we'll see.

Same here; I only have the Eshift cats in (no third). I did get residues from the precats when I changed out the j-pipe, but no issues in operate yet.

So your two main cats are Type-S cats? Can you "feel" the difference? I'm sure there would be a little since they are 'better' flow. But I'm just asking since you seem to have them in. Or are you running just running the precat deletes and straight piped all the way through?

^ I was running deletes with a high flow cat. Swapped em out for type-S precats and a race pipe.

Honestly, I feel the increased low end tq (maybe not saying much after running deletes) and my CT exhaust sounds deeper.

Cool

So what are you saying? That my Eshift cats will break down early? If so, what does this do to the 3rd cat? Does it get damaged as well? Or do the Eshift cats just kinda dump out their guts. Without hurting my 3rd cat?

If they go bad, aren't they just like the straight pipe, same as the precats deletes?

I don't think I will do anything yet.......

They are two mods for different people IMO.

RV6 deletes -> top end power is sick. Exhaust note was pretty good too with my CT catback. Higher peak WHP numbers.

Type-S precats -> higher flowing than base precats... deeper sound. Better for the environment.

Ok let's let the azine official fitment guru get in on this discussion

According to my part # crossreference
The following all have the same cats
Every single V6 honda from 03+ (this of course is 03to08)

Sooooo
To answer your question, get a pair of richie precat deletes

Then pm me when you ready to install em I'll throw em on for buck fitty

If anyone has any questions regarding installing these hit me up, I have the install in my head and can walk you through it with my eyes closed

Not to mention last night/this morning I just did an install on an 04 NYC car (rust ftl)...

Ps. I fucking dare you to throw these on an RL... Easily 20hp

In conclusion I've never seen the procats fail, and I ran them for 5k...

You wouldn't believe how bad the rear cat was rusted... It got to the point where james' went and got the retractable saw and we saw'd off the heatshield... Shit worked....

Oh my god.. And how could I forget, he got some suspsion work done and they had put an impact gun to the 6 12mm holding the strutbar... Let's just say his strutbar is nothing but a hood ornament now... We saw'd that bitch off too

I shoulda snapped a pic...fawk

Oooooh so you had BOTH setups. I was wondering about that. So you had the precat deletes with a third high flow cat. And then switched over to Type-S (main cats) with a third cat delete? So you're saying the second one is better? (and better for the environment to boot?) The Type-S cat route or straight pipe this sucker. I would still pass smog with the TYpe-S cats though right? Or am I wrong?

@04AccordCPE... THAT's the picture that ALWAYS comes to mine when I hear/see Eshift procats.

lol! this is why i'm not worried about switching mine out. if the insides burnout, then i have an instant precat deletes. as long as i don't throw any cel, i'm good!

The basic rule of thumb on E-Shift pro cats seems to be...

If you are running NA they will hold up for quite a while. I am guessing prob over 60-80,000 miles.

If you are running SC they will quickly burn out in short order. Within 10-15,000 likely if not sooner, depending on your driving habits and climate.

^Your eshifts won't necessarily break down early even with a S/C, and either way your 3rd cat is safe. I've had my procats for 1.5 years blown and are just fine. I think it just depends on what batch you got. IF they do go bad and you decide to gut them they are not as good as the straightpipe bc the airflow is impeded because of the larger diameter of the procats vs. the cat deletes.

If you must have cats, go with the 07-08 type-s precats and a race pipe in place of your third cat. If you can get eshifts cats that are still in tact for real cheap, go with them. My

I didn't even realize until I install the j-pipe, but it was very little. I'm sure they will last another 50k or so.

They are going to be hi flow cats. If you already have the cats, it won't hurt to install. Trust me, after the install you won't care.

well I bought them used in good shape but just been lacking installing them... planning on taking the car to the shop and getting my meth injection kit, procats, painting the roof, repainting the grill and relocating the battery to the trunk bc of the sc....

And a 300hp dyno 286 is the best I pulled @45% humidity and 95 degrees

I need to stop being lazy...

Oh...your sc. I would probably think twice about installing the procats then. SC TL's with the procats were known for the deteriation more than the N/A's. Maybe you can sell or trade the cats for the type-s one's or wait for Mike's ATLP High Flo one's.
