i agree. the posted numbers from vtec.net was 222HP and 208TQ on a 6MT.
granted that all dynos are different, i might be losing some power from the slightly bigger tires. same thing happened with the RSX project car from the show Sports Car Revolution. the bigger tires results in a higher rolling mass which robs the car's power.
vtec.net dyno'd the 5AT at 212HP.

You are right my dyno numbers are higher maybe just a bad day. Whay kind of gas were you running that will make a little defference. But man 25whp difference there is something wrong there. And you said your a 6 speed? that looks like auto tranny numbers even then they are higher than that. Try again i bet you have oxgenated fuel in there and that will kill the hp!!

Why are they using mph on the dyno instead of rpm? I know they can probably do both, but I find it hard to tell what's going on unless plotted against engine rpm. What gear were you in? And what size wheels/tires do you have? That does seem like a high loss for a 6MT...

the dyno was on my 17" stock wheels with 245/45/17 tires.
i'll just charge it to a bad dyno day...i will try a different dyno shop to see a difference.

when did you run your dyno (what time of the year)? i thought NJ stopped using oxygenated gas. i use Mobil Super 93. also, did you use your 19" wheels when you dyno'd your car or did you have the stock wheels/tires on? finally. which shop dyno'd your car?
thanks!!

just got an email from Shawn Church (vtec.net):
Bigger, heavier tires can reduce measured hp on some chassis dynamometers.
However, I would not expect your slight increase to reduce hp that much.
Some things to consider when using wheel dynamometers (as opposed to hub
dynamometers which bolt on in place of the wheels).
1. Tire inflation pressure - lower pressure will sap hp.
2. Suspension alignment - Too much toe or camber will reduce measured power
3. Vehicle alignment - how the vehicle is aligned on the rollers can affect
power
4. Strap down tension - higher tension reduces power
General items to consider on any dyno
1. Coolant temp
2. Intake air temperature
Other than that, maybe you had some bad gasoline, or perhaps this dyno just
reads low.
Rgds,
Shawn

you cant loose 64 horses through the tranny can you (especially manual)? Has anyone used the virtual dyno software, on HPTV it seems to be pretty damn close to the actual results.

270 - 208 = 62
and yes, it is very possible to lose a good amount. but not just through the tranny. ie. tires and wheels are just a couple factors.

Now with i-Vtec
I just dyno'd my TL on March 26th with my modded airbox. I too was kinda dissapointed with the numbers. However for some reason we were experiencing interference from the coil pack which is visible in the TQ.

please dont tell me that this is how much power the power train rubs from the engine. thats actaully pretty pathetic.
althought like someone mentioned.. i dont see the SAE corrected numbers.

Did you dyno pulling the car in 4th gear?
Wheels and tires can make a difference but not that much. My race car could see a 25rwhp from changing tires and rims on the dyno.
Dynos can really vary, one thing to find out if is that dyno is considered to put out low #'s. Thanks for posting the info.
