Drop-in Hi Performance Air Filter for 07 TLS
I've searched K&N's website, and the only part they list for the 07 3.5 is the oil filters, so I'm assuming they do not manufacture an air filter or intake of any kind for the car as of yet.
Does anyone know if there are Drop-in "Hi Performance" or "HI-FLOW" Air Filters made for the 07 TLS 3.5 which fit in the factory air box?
I'd love to install a Cold Air Box in my engine compartment, but don't want to deal with a through-the-fender install of a CAI. Until someone steps up to the plate and makes one, I would be happy just to drop in a high-flow replacement filter but can't find any of those either.
Any of you parts suppliers know of anything I can use?

if you want, you could switch out to the 3.2 from 04-06 box which has the hi-flow filters for it. the 07's have a new shape with a corner cut off, so there currently is no filters for it.

I know that's an option, but trying to stay stock. I have a feeling that because this is the last year of production for the 3GTL that K&N won't bother producing a filter. I may just have to build my own CAB from aluminum or plastic, then order a short pipe and K&N cone filter. But once again, I'm trying to avoid all that, and just drop in a filter using the OEM intake.
Anyone else?

^^^ Good find STILLHERE, thanks for posting it!
Not a bad price at all, considering it's like 50 bucks just for the filter. But I think I'll pass...still wanting something that FITS the OEM TLS box, or to just build a CAB myself.

If more of us place a request on the Type-S K&N Filter, I'm sure they'll stop scratching their butts and make one.

hey guys are you talking about the filter alone which goes in the box or are you talking about hte various air intake kits? which one provides the best performance increase? Sorry i'm really new to this. So with the air filter you just drop it into the box and you're good to go? Does it make a dramatic difference in performance and mileage? lots of the CAI are not legal in our stupid state of California... emissions!!!

They have a drop in air filter for the 07 TLS air box. Takes about 2 minutes to install. No major hp gain, just got mine for better filtering and don't have to worry about getting another replacement.

Just got my K&N Air Filter. I think I was the first one to request a filter from K&N. I bought the car in January and ordered a filter from AJUSA for a 3.5L RL. Of course, since there was a minor change in the engine compartment for the 2007 TL's it would not fit. I sent it back and had to pay a restock fee. I called K&N to ask if they had one. They said they didn't and needed me to send in a request to have them make one using their website. I did. I was notified several weeks ago that they now have one.
I ordered mine from Autoanything.com since AJUSA said that they could not match or beat Autoanything.com's price. Their price was $42.50 delivered versus $37.50 delivered.
The K&N part number for the 2007 TL Type S is #33-2379.
I believe this part number is also the same for the 2007 TL also.
I received the filter 2 days after ordering it. Installed it in less than 5 minutes and was a piece of cake to install. It fits like a glove.
I didn't notice/hear any difference between the stock versus K&N filter. I hope to see at least 1 mpg at the pump. If not, no big deal. I now will never have to buy an air filter for the Acura again.

Why do people persist to respond to old ass threads.
Between 42 and 50 is an average price.

that sucks
I've just looked at my emails from them, they seem to do 10% at the end of every month... so you may want to wait... But the price did jump $10.
(if you want the truth, I haven't noticed a difference with K&N and Stock filters....thus I bought an AEM CAI, waiting for it to finally come in)

I'm not sure why people insist on buying a product that offers absolutely no performance gain yet filters far worse than stock.
When Amsoil finally makes a drop in filter for the TL I'll be the first one to buy it. Far better filtration then even the stock paper filter and better flow than the K&N plus no oil needed and it's washable.
The best thing the guys with the CAI could do is order the appropriate Amsoil EAA filter. Dirty air will wear a motor out faster than dirty oil.
