Driving without j-pipe?
Driving without j-pipe?
Don't ask me why, but I might need to drive without any j-pipe for a few days, meaning that exhaust flow comes straight out of the precats.
Other than the sound, can this do any damage to the car and engine?

I would not suggest doing that for any more than a 1-2 mile drive to get to a place where it will be fixed. You are going to have a massive amount of heat in the engine bay where it should not be, toxic fumes coming into the passenger area, and rediculous noise.
Don't do it. It's a risky move.

Besides the fumes, noise, and potential overheating of components depending on where the exhaust is pointed, there are other issues.
With the exhaust cut off that close to the head, you can have problems. What happens is everything is fine until you shut it off. If cool ambient air can make it's way to the hot exhaust valves it can cause problems. The cats should prevent this from happening but it's a possiblity. At a minimum, drive it really easy and let it idle for a few seconds before shutting it down.

You did say in your first post not to ask why.
But, maybe he can make one better than the others?!
