It's easy to do and the slave cyl was cheap enough to buy one to mod and just install. Cutting the lip of the slave cyl and using a pick to remove the retaining clip is a million times easier than trying to remove it with no notch in the slave lip next to the cap that needs to be removed. ( you will understand this when you read the DIY treads.)

Well I went to the track last night and picked up a little speed. The air was good last night. I got a couple videos from last night Im going to put up on youtube when I get a chance. I was car 29 last night
These are my 3 best runs to date. I have only had this car at the track 3 times.

Wooow very consistent... What rpm did you launch at?

Around 2500 and slipped the clutch out of the hole. Im running some all season 440 TW tires. It will spin if you try to get off the clutch fast in first. Thats why the 60fts are 2.2xx.

Your car is definitely on the strong side, no doubt. Since today is actually 10/25, I'm assuming this was yesterday and the track had the wrong date in their system? I checked the DA on these runs and it was around 219', so these times/traps are more or less dead on. Most stock 6MT's are only good for ~ 97. Bet you could go 13.90's with drag radials.

Nice runs man! Nice shifting too. I must have either a mount or some other kind of issue because when I powershift it bangs lol.

What are you shifting at? I presume just before fuel cut? I think just upping fuel cut might give a mph or two. I was running some calcs and it appears that optimum shift point even on a stock car is above fuel cut. I wonder how high we can turn before floating the valves on the stock springs?

Yeah the clutch is still slipping some on the 2nd-3rd shift. Im shifting around 6500 so by the time I get the car into the next gear and get off the clutch the engine only flashes up to around 6800. I didnt have time to do the check valve mod. I took the spare tire out for weight. It weighted 3560 with me in the car. Im a pretty thin guy so that helps. The only mods on the car now are a CAI with a KN filter and a set of magnaflow mufflers welded to the factory y pipe. It still has all 3 cats the resonator and mid muffler. The date was wrong on the time slips I don't know why I didnt even notice it till you guys pointed it out. I got a couple videos outside the car to show how it launches. I got to get those up on youtube.

My clutch is at 101k miles and it needs to go here soon. I went to the track back in... June?? And it slipped horrible 1st and 2nd and a little in 3rd. Had to let out 1st, got back on and it slipped so I got off again changed to 2nd and it slipped and I let off and back on and then I finally went down the track. Still ran a 9.5 @ 77 and smoked a BRZ. Friend told me a big ball of white smoke came out from under my car after the run. Sucks these clutches can't handle bolt on power for very long.

I am sure the clutch is good but after years of use and god know how much abuse it taken pior to your ownership of the car.

I tend not to beat too badly on my clutch on the street, unless it's a really close encounter. A G8 GT and a Cummins Ram straight from the bowels of hell that I ran both come to mind. If I'm pulling easily, or even just steadily on the other car, then I lift, but still shift with some authority. So that leaves once or twice a year at the track that I'm actually beating on it.

Same.. Track has more wear n tear that street

You gotta watch those G8 GTs. My friend went 12.19@ 112 last friday night in his G8 with nothing but bolt-ons.

No doubt they respond well to mods, but stock they're not crazy fast. They'll run 101-104 mph stock. All the ones I see around here appear to be stock. The one I ran had a passenger and I didn't and we were door to door 60-120. That was before the 4" intake, Flashpro, and 80 lbs more weight reduction. It would be interesting to run again now with no passenger in the Pontiac.

Tl can run 12's.. Community just not creative enough... Granted its no market for the platform, the creativity and will is far behind a lot of other small market platforms... When most of the threads in the performance section is asking about the very few basic bolt on mods offered you know there is a long way to go lol

Lack of OEM style tuning on the autos is probably the main driver. Sure there is megasquirt, but if Hondata ever had something for the autos, you'd see aftermarket potential increase immediately.

Only things needed for 12s are Bolt ons, Weight Reduction++ & Slicks IMO. I went 13.5 on a poor 2.13 60' on DRs on the stock tune with Bolt ons in ~900ft DA with 0 weight reduction. CBR went 13.39 with a stellar 1.8x with bolt ons & manifold/TB porting. I don't know if he had any weight reduction. 12s aren't easy, but they are perfectly doable. As soon as someone buys my heads I will show you lol. Help me out people!! (Although now I have the 3.84 FD, so I'm sure that helps...although still no weight reduction).

Just the way you sit now and some radials or slicks and you're in the 13's... Cams and Hondata tune can shave a bit more off your times... And a lil weight reduction n i cant see why that 1.12 sec cant be touched lol...

Didn't Ethanol go 13.1 @ 108-109 with Bisi Stage I cams in a base 6MT? We never saw slips, but I think Andy vouched for the time IIRC?? It's tough to believe, especially since that was before we were all doing the 3.7 top swap, which shows good gains.
#72
I can def see 13.1 with cams in base 6mt.. No slips needs to be shown to believe that

It's more the 108-109 traps that are tough to swallow. That's higher than 320+ whp supercharged cars were trapping. This was before any tuning solution was available, with just PCD's, cat back, and some porting on the intake/runners, (stock J pipe) and then the Stage 1 cams. Maybe he had major weight reduction.
#74
NA maxima traps 111mph tuned with bolt ons n cams... I can def see 109 traps.. That def matches a 13.0-12.8 run depending on weight n driver.. Maxima had a 3" catback.. I know they are different platforms but they are roughly similar cars when all is taken into consideration hence why i dont find it hard to believe.. I always thought it should be more common... Shoot my untuned maxima trapped 106mph with no cams just straight bolt ons n a technosquare reflashed ecu

Comparing Maximas to TLs isn't necessarily apples to oranges, but they're still different engines, displacement, broader VQ torque curve, gearing, curb weight etc. Modded Maximas have been trapping higher all along.
Strictly using confirmed data we have on the 3G TL, we haven't seen a bolt on TL trap over 103 or a 320-330 whp supercharged one trap over 107 (granted, one of those S/C TLs had heavy 19" wheels, no weight reduction and then the added 60 lbs or whatever the supercharger weighs)
It takes a solid 50-55 whp to go from 103 to 109 traps on a low to mid 3,000 lb car with all other variables remaining constant. I still find it hard to believe a mild (Stage 1) cam would show those kinds of gains over a bolt on car. Those are LS1 thumper cam gains.

You can't just look at peak gains though. If you can add 30 whp peak, but a 100 whp differential at certain rpms, I can easily see it. My old LT1 car picked up 8 mph from a 60 whp 'peak gain' but at 6500 the gain was over 100whp. It's all about area under the curve.
Looking at TL dynos, even stock they look like they could benefit from some added rpm before shifting. Add a set of cams and shift at 8K, I think it's possible.
I agree tho not to compare the Maxima. A VQ could make 9000 HP for $2 and I'd still hate that motor. Plus Maximas are ugly compared to TLs. :-)
Those NA maximas trapping 111 have to have some big time weight reduction. I think the fastest NA maxima is 113 as well, so I wouldn't say they are 110+ cars all day long...

Idk what the look has to do with anything.. I actually like the VQ more.... Im not directly comparing both cars, however there can be comparisons.. The VQ makes a lot more TQ hence the J series may have to make more power to match.. Either was you can compare.. While not directly saying mods act the same you can still compare... If displacements are the reason one cannot compare then we can say the same for J32 vs J35.. And those we compare daily
#79
Screamingz.. That maxima i posted is now the fastest NA maxima.. 12.54@111.. Hes had weight reduction but nothing more excessive than a normal TL does.. I know him personally... Personally enoughto have driven his car before...

I just said i could see 12.8@108 thats across almost all compareable platform NA car.. Give or take a few tenths power and 1/4 mph and power dont differ that much and if it does ill easily give up on a J series because that easily makes it theeeeee worste platform to mod lol (being extreme) at that point the TL would have the most worthless powerband in a QB
