I think the only DOHC V6 Honda/Acura makes is the NSX engine. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Our cars are SOHC.

Even though you have 2 cams, it's a SOHC, as in Single Overhead Cam. There is only 1 cam over the head. A typical V8 has one cam in the block and pushrods activate the intake and exhaust valves for both heads.

In a sohc, the cam is on top of the head and is directly actuating the valves, both the intake and the exhaust. A DOHC has a cam for the intake valves, and one for the exhaust valves.

A good way to think about it is if you've ever seen a SOHC honda civic motor. It only has one head and one cam. Makes sense, right? Think of our motor as 2 of them in a V configuration, with one cylinder chopped off of each head.

It's more complicated than that, and a lot more efficient, but that's a good way to think about it.

A SOHC motor with 1 head will have 1 cam, while a SOHC motor with 2 heads will have 2 cams.

A DOHC motor with 1 head will have 2 cams, while a DOHC motor with 2 heads will have 4 cams.

Now, think about how GM is going to have a Dual cam-in-block V8. Not sure if they are still pursuing it, but they thought about it.

Old integra wasn't a V6. It is a DOHC, but its an inline 4 cylinder. I always thought a V8 based off of 2 B series heads would be pretty nice, but I don't have the stuff to fab a block.

the part you are picturing with the "acura" on it is the intake manifold, the cylinder heads are on each side(front and back) of the intake mainfold

Darn, was hoping for this thread to be a successful DOHC swap. Oh well.
