Does CAI slow the car down in higher speed?
I'm planning to get and install a CAI, but I heard that the CAI slow the car down and prevent it to go no higher than 80 mph? Is this true? Also will the short ram intake slow the car down as well, but in low RPM? If anyone know anything about this please let me know. Thank you.

okay maybe the op is means that with a cai u might loose some low end torque? but however when u hit WOT ur going to zooooomm. but overall you will gain hp!! but low end torque might suffer a little. my 2 cents

you will probably lose some throttle response and low end torque.... but u will gain some in the upper range..
im thinking to remove mine... the only good thing about it is the sound. Thats why they sell so many of them

That guy with the 2000 TEG must be a noob or a tard... forgive my being rude but WTF!!! anyways let me ask everyone is throwing zingers on the AEM V2 CAI, wondering why because from what it sounds like is that some will buy it and wont hit the dyno to find the actual facts on the HP gain or if takes load off the motor. Sooooo...... ya to get real facts you someone must fork the dough and go get a run in. I wouldn't use AEM anyways BUT before I disprove the product I would run tests. Why doesn't someone just run a DIY ice box? would anyone be interested, if so I am willing to make a DIY thread.

Tell that guy that he needs to change his blinker fluid before he ruins his whole electrical system. MY friend did that to some dude at dunk-in donuts and he came back the next week and was very pissed off because he actually went to an auto shop and asked them to check it ahahhaha.
As for intake, make a custom one, they all serve the same purpose and get cold air.

LOL sorry, I will speak Engrish! I was in a hurrry. Basically what I am saying is that without someone proving it with dyno results you cant really knock any CAI or short ram. I was also wondering if anyone was interested in DIY Ice box? For those who do not know what an ice box is..... a cold air intake setup to eliminate sucking in water and is probably more efficient.
Also! No not CAI's work the same and don't contribute the same! Have the same concept, yes but not all the same. The reason Fujita/AEM/Skunk2 were so successful with other CAI and short ram is because instead of just making a tube to hook up to your TB (throttle body) they actually spin the metal around a rod when making the CAI. Anyone who has an AEM CAI or short ram, look inside you will see spiral lines! reason for this is that the spiral lines help the air vortec, spin and distribute evenely instead a big rush of turbulanced air into the combustion chamber.

Wow.
Considering I've already had the car up to 135Mph, no, the CAI will do no such thing.

hahaha no dont take it the wrong way I wasn't trying to be rude. I just saw some replies saying that the AEM was a POS! Just askin why.... as for 80MPH I'm going to keep it at no comment. Thread dead

They are all pretty much the same. Get the one that fits your budget. AEM V2 is the choice of many but I was too cheap and got a Fujita. I paid 212 shipped. The other choice is Injen.

actually, the intake did prevent me from going faster...
something happened at around 156 mph..i think the air got too cold from the CAI, ice cubes were flying into my motor

Guys, it's impossible for a CAI or filter to decrease low end torque. Completely impossible so get that out of your heads. It's not an exhaust mod. Explain how more air can take away power anywhere in the rpm band.
And the spiral lines on the inside are for marketing hype. A 3" pipe will flow much more air than the <300 CFM required to make the TL's rated hp. If you can't make your own, you should shop by price, bling factor, noise level, or quality of parts/materials but power will be so close between all of them it should be the last consideration.
