Nevermind I'm an idiot and had brief moment of
Now at the risk of sounding like a complete amateur... And going against all of
the gearheads line of thinking. I have an auto 07 TLs, I'm realistic and know that it's not a racecar but still enjoy cruising in it.
Simply put: which setup would give me a more aggressive intake sound, a CAI or SRI? I know, I know hot air= bad. But if the difference is barely noticeable as I've been reading then I won't mind. Does the SRI produce a louder/more throaty intake sound? Thanks guys for your experience!

Mine was setting on the porch when I got home today, so I went ahead and threw it on. Fitment was spot on, filter seems to be of good quality, and came with all clamps, hoses, etc.
The sound is good, not overly loud at all, just nice and smooth throughout the revs. Power increase.... eh, we all know the story. I am pleased with it, especially for the price.

I did the same thing. Just a heads up, I contacted UltraRev because I never received a confirmation email from then. The guy I spoke to said that the CAI is on back order until roughly May 27. So you realistically won't be seeing it until the first week of June.

Interesting - it said it was in stock when I ordered it, but I also never received a confirmation from them. I also emailed them as well, but have received no response.

Yea same here. I'm not sure if it's a glitch when using google checkout or what just call the customer service phone number and double check. I guess we don't have a lot to complain about seeing as it was free shipping. But I'm going to make sure to call the day he said they'd have them for shipment.

Fantastic. I love finding out about stuff like this on the forum, rather than hearing it from the vendor. I was really looking forward to getting this on.

Got the intake installed today wondering if anyone else ran into the problem of having absolutely zero clearance for the hid bulbs in the fogs and the filter? So wasn't able to put the vibration mount on. And also got it in without taking off the front bumper

Are you running hid's in your fogs? I think the hid bulbs might stick out a little farther then the stock halogens which is whats causing the tight fit for me . And yea I agree.. def worth the money

Just followed up with the guys at ultrarev. Basically they have no estimated time of shipment from the guys at DC motorsport. He told me the warehouse isn't sure when they'll be able to ship the CAIs as they have none in stock. Instead of leaving my money in limbo for the unforeseeable future I cancelled my order and will wait a while before I inquire again.
Sucks, but I hope that helps anyone else who recently ordered from them.

I just got an email back from ultrarev and they told me he contacted the manufacturer and they say they are expecting them in two weeks. So I would assume around the 14th give or take. I'm thinking about getting one for my Type S. Seems like a great deal.

NEWB here; just bought a MT 08 KBP, it's being delivered next weekend.
This may be a stupid ?, and I saw someone make a joke about performance gains with a CAI...but why is K&N the only intake (that I've found) that actually posts HP gains (looking at 08 Type-S intake)?
The K&N site states over 10HP gain from their Typoon system. AEM, Injen and this DC one don't say anything. Seems weird that the other companies wouldn't want to put that kind of info on their product page. Is it they just don't want to spend the money to dyno the gains?
So is the K&N better becuase of the filter (also has a backing around the filter)? Not sure if it's worth the $130 more (ebay price of $240).

I think that's going to be all personal preference .I personally just cant justify spending double the price for the exact same thing .Yes the quality of the higher end ones is probably a little better, But I'm very satisfied with the DC. For a little over a 100 bucks you cant go wrong .. that's my anyways..

Because its all marketing. K&N is a big company and there known, and one reason is because they post numbers... There all basically going to be the same, just stay away from "bendy" tube like intakes, like the shit you see for a dryer... I went the cheapest route and just went with DC because i know there a decent company. owned by AEM anyways..

I know people said it seems the filter on the DC kit is of decent quality, but are these filters that need to be oiled like K&N filters? I personally hate oiling filters it was just a pain and a huge mess, plus you never knew if you were over oiling it or under oiling it.
Thanks,
James

I would suggest removing the bumper. The stock intake system was somewhat a hassle of forcing out. I couldn't imagine doing it with the bumper still on. Its pretty simple really, Had my iPhone load the video and just skimmed through it really, took like 15 - 20 mins to get it off.

^this. Usually I don't care when people ask simple questions because it's nice to have a direct answer to your question, but damn use the search feature!! The time you wasted being helpless and asking people to hold your hand, you could have found what you were looking for and had you CAI installed a long time ago!
