probably two bolts on the back end...and disconnect the brake line.
biggest issue would be having to bleed the system after and down time, of course. Probably could work with it on the car though...
About comparing to a lambo...hey hey hey now...I love my car...a lot. And I'm looking at the color combo's not comparing the car although I love it LIKE a lambo!

Ok, well, If i did the copper calipers I wouldn't leave the lugs/valvestem blue, of course. So I'll either do the calipers in a blue that'll match the lugs or I'll plastidip them or something to hide the blue and go with whatever color scheme. We shall see.
PS...worked with this seller on ebay...they were awesome...$7 shipped for 12 stickets (6 sets of 2). She has 3.25" and 2.25" for the rears, but I asked that she make all of them the bigger ones so I can have some choices. She even let me pick 3 different colors. So I'm getting all 3.25", 4 in black, 4 in white, and 4 in silver.

Hmmm...well, I have works, so the valvestem is works blue but I have gorilla lock lugs that I painted with the anodized blue. Was thinking I could get a blue that looks similar...
Dammit, I was so hellbent on the copper with black letters...I guess I will sleep on it. I have to wait for the stickers anyway.

I'm seriously considering going with silver and black lettering...adds the wow factor and shows them off without being over the top.
The main thing pushing me now is that I just realized my brembo paint is starting to have the clearcoat peel off. FK>

I have a logistical question for you gurus out there...see the 4 bolts that seem to hold the brembo caliper together/ Well, I thought about trying to tape it off...but I think It'll be easier to just back the bolts out from the back and then paint the caliper and then screw them back in...I've found that to do a great job, it's all in the details.
So what do you all think...any repurcussions to backing those bolts out a bit, or at least enough so the paint doesnt get on it.

^ you will be fine.... but the bolt ends are black so depending on the color will look a lil awkward and stand out thats why i painted over mine with the white pearl it would have looked silly with black ends of the bolts against the white

See...and I don't think so...I think that if it's obvious it's hardware, it'll look good to look like you didn't just paint over everything...I'll take a closer look when I decide what I'm going to do an report back with some pictures!

alright murph, you inspired me...
copied from my progress thread:
Ok...so this long holiday weekend, decided to tackle this, since I knew I could leave my car out of commission and take my time.
Got 2 things done, swapped out my ebay special jpower front camber balljoint to the spc one. I have to say, the jpower people did a GREAT job of copying the style. It's identical, save for the 17mm castle nut vs the 16mm spc (lucky I realized before I stripped it). Also, the SPC one, when you tighten it down, it actually presses the balljoint into the upper control arm, the ebay one was moveable as soon as you'd loosen the upper nut.
Next up, I got my brake calipers and hubs/discs done. I had done a half assed job of spraying the discs in silver a year ago, but I definitely didn't prep correctly. I'll probably end up getting some zinc plated brakemotive discs down the line, but this'll buy me some time.
On to the pics...I made a semi DIY, although I'm sure it's pretty self explanatory. Won't bother with the camber pics, although there's one of the spc one installed.
Here's what we're starting with...some rusty hubs and here are some good pics of the bubbling that was occurring on my brembos...the final push I needed to go ahead with repainting them.
prepped everything at once, wiped down with some natural solvent stuff for the kitchen, then sanded with 50 grit and then 150, then wiped down again, then taped up, then wiped down with IPA. I learned on one side, use 150, the 50 leaves deep scratch marks, but you have to look closely to see them.
depending on your rims, you can see some parts of where the rim seats against the hub, so paint that too...covered the lugs, you don't want a few millimeters of paint on those.
Ok, HUB done...
For the discs...the brakes will take care of scraping and burning off any extra paint after, but you don't want all that gunk on there...I used 1.5" painters tape, put on long straight strips to cover the most area...then I put a razor blade on the grooves and spun the disc by hand to cut a perfect circle. Took about 5 minutes per disc and made cleanup a breeze (nonexistent). An ounce of prevention...pound of cure, right?
Once that was dry (and after getting home from the UM game)...I reversed the process...covered up the disc and secluded the caliper. I will make this recommendation when doing this, if you want to do it right and get good coverage and NOT on your pads or have weird paint lines where you should have painted but didn't because you had to tape and overtaped (if you've ever painted calipers back in the day you'll know what I mean). The level of detail and perfection is the line in the sand that separates if something looks oem and classy or like a hack job and why would you do that to that poor tl look from people. SO REMOVE THE BRAKE PADS/SLIDES/PINS. Seriously. Takes an extra few minutes but makes it easier to mask under...I basically just put a piece of newspaper and then slid it under the caliper.
Already looking pretty good...OK, now, let me say this too...get a bearing on where the decal ends up...once this thing touches the semi wet paint (i installed after 30 minutes after the last coat of the base silver color, after an hour, they say not to do another coat of anything for a week) it will stick and NOT move. I messed up the first time...the pulled the letters off and put on my second one...but you could kind of see the ghosted image of where I messed up and put down the original letters...so scrapped it all and sanded it all back down and redid it. Then I measured where the center was vertically for a bearing, and then eyeballed horizontally...got it right. Only had 4 black decals so once I messed up the first two...ZERO margin for error.
Then clear it...I did 3 coats of base, 3 of clear.
Rears done...
and now the fronts...
with the tein and spc, it looks like Christmas under my fender!
and here it is, complete...

Thanks Murph, as you know...you were a major inspiration. Honestly, I was all worried about changing up the stock look...but in looking at the pics...DANG...those black callipers were looking pretty dirty and beat up!
J.
Plus, to be honest...if I was JUST doing the calipers and not the hubs too...this would have been a pretty easy mod.

Thanks again man...yeah, for real. Silver is perfect.
Honestly, the hubs took longer to prep/tape/paint. Did 1 side per day.
Rears were pretty easy...if it were JUST calipers again, I'd be able to do all of them in 2 hours without a problem.

Awesome Thread, Thanks I am trying to decide what color Brembo's would be cool with a 2007 WDP Type-S with ebony/silver leather. Maybe red, I was considering white, but I think they might get very dirty quickly. Thanks for the great pictures

sweet rockstar! looking good silver looks great with NBP. i really want to do this now after seeing Justin's (murph's) calipers in person the other day. just gotta decide on the color. leaning towards RED
with white or black brembo lettering. plus ive been brainstorming on an idea for the wimpy rear caliper. not a BBK too much $$ nor a shitty plastic wannabe brembo cover. something simple and affordable, but custom. stay tunned. gonna pick up supplies today.
BTW justin your CF engine cover is looking dope! i'll try to finish it by the weekend.

Thanks for the compliments fellas...
Hmmm...on WDP, I can't help but go for a bold color (depending on your current color scheme etc...like, do you have the red tails etc. Red could be good, I think a gold or bronze could look amazing too. I have read from members that white is a PITA the keep clean but of course, it's gorgeous.
HQ...looking forward to it.

whites not hard to keep clean .. my pads dont leave much brake dust... if they were the original brembo pads then yea F that! but luckily mine are very clean and only get dirty if raining but even then its easy for me to wipe off with a rag
