Question Custom Exhaust

I have been researching the Magnaflow option for the 3G TL and I am wondering if 2.5'' is too large for the muffler inlet/outlet and the piping? It seems that most of you have been going with 2.25'' instead. I also noticed that the Comptech is 2.5''. Is 2.5' ' just too much for this car?

I have also read that some of you are using part number 14325 for the mufflers and others are using 14362. Still not sure which I will go with.

2.25 will be easier to keep the stock tips on...the car is 2.5 until the Y then goes to 2" pipe...taking it up to 2.25 will be just fine.

I probably will not keep the stock tips. If you look at the magnaflow catalog they actually sell square and rectangle shapped tips. They have some in there that look similar to stock tips.

What are some of the part numbers on those tips? Its been a while since I've looked through the magnaflow catalog but remember that a lot of the tips that I liked were huge and probably would not fit the bumper cutouts well.

Not sure about the part numbers. The catalog I was looking at was at the local performance shop I go to.

Just make sure before you decide on any tips that they will fit, most of the people I use to sell tips to would not take length into consideration and then would be stuck with a tip that didnt fit well enough.

Depends on the mufflers you use and how you want to shop to do the system. I found it was much easier to make your own pipes after the Y...that allows you to set up the mufflers how you want. I havent done anything to my TL in a while so I cant remember if what type of cap there was on the length. Depending on the style of tip you can always cut them down to fine tune them.
