Confused with exhaust mods

I am planning on doing very basic performance mods: Intake and exhaust. So a CAI and simple exhaust mods to complement the freer breathing. I have read so many different exhaust posts that it's getting really confusing. What are the different components? J-pipe, 3rd cat, test pipe. I am looking to do the one with the best bang but is also easiest to do and will not affect emissions or reliablity. I know these may not go hand in hand so I am willing to compromise. Pictures would really help me understand. Thanks.

If someone could label the parts of the exhaust that we can change out and the cost/benefit we get that would be great.

Okay someone please post a graph/picture cuz I don't have one.

But it goes like this:

Pre-Cat Deletes -> J-Pipe -> Test Pipe (3rd Cat) -> Exhaust (Mid-Muffler, Resonator, Mufflers)

Correct.

J-Pipe = A-Pipe = #6
Test Pipe = 3rd cat delete = #1 (minimal impact on emisisions. The primaries do most of the work, afaik).

Exhaust = #15 and is all one peice:
Resonator is the first "bump" in exaust;
Mid Muffler is the next "bump";
Then the y-pipe split;
Then the mufflers;
Then the tips.
