I agree with ttliang... You shouldnt have a problem with that. Also, I think that they design the cars to be smarter than we are now so even if that happened, I don't think the engine would let itself overrev to the point of doing damage. I may be wrong but I am pretty sure you can not overrev the TL because of the computer. But I wouldn't worry about it. I havent missed a shift yet.

I know the kids that had this happen to them where both young and inexperienced, but Honda didn't honor their mistake with a new engine...anyone fear this??...thanks

trance,
Did you order yours through the Excelerate group buy? I ordered mine and it shipped via USPS on the 26th to New York and he's in CT and I still haven't received it. I see you're in Dallas, so how did you get it so fast?

I didnt really get it that fast to be honest, it was about two weeks. I think he ordered it from Comptech not last Monday but the monday before. Then sent it to me first class mail. I mean I saved like maybe a couple bucks doing the group buy.

Are there any short shifters that lower the height of the stock one. I would like to loose some of that height and have a shorter throw. If you guys know of any please let me know. thanks

not to my knowledge. The Comptech SS is an adapter, not a full shifter, as you probably already know. I measured my throw before and after and it was reduced by 1 3/8", which is nearly 50%. It feels really good.

Just installed mine today, it does feel really good.
All in all, it took around 2-3 hours, took my time cause sure didn't want to break any clips.
This tutorial really helped me in the install, I really appreciated this

Just installed my SS this weekened. Feels great and makes a BIG difference. I let my friend drive it who has a 04' TL and he couldn't believe the difference. I followed the step by step instructions posted on this thread. It was really easy. You just have to remember which screws go where when you put it back together. The only thing that I would add to the instructions is when you attach the SS, you will need to use a hammer to tap it on. It would not slide on all the way just using your hand. A couple of light taps with a hammer did the job fine. Took 2 hours to do in total.

Awesome... glad it worked out! good idea with the hammer... I was too nervous about breaking it with a hammer so i used the metal tool that came with it and placed it on top and just kinda pressured it on....

Well Me and ACER just got done doing the install , thanks to jmbnova for the writeup, it helps out allot..I just thought i would add a couple of things to the install that seems to make it go a lil quicker , on the removal of the stock bushing that you reuse on the new one , don't use a bench vise or the tool that they include , what i did was get a small screw driver and put it on the inside of the washing from the top and just pop it off..This method is sooo much easier then trying to force it off with that tool.. We also didn't remove the whole paneling under the steering wheel or the glove box as it's much easier NOT doing this as you suggested..Using a flat hand screw driver with the towel to remove all of the panels seems to easier too..
Wow what a great mod for the money , no doubt a great do it yourself project for the weekend..I suggest this mod for anyone with the 6spd..U won't be disappointed..Me and ACER both had smiles on our faces during the test drives..

Well yes... It's physics
With a longer shifter arm, it will take less travel ut more force to move into and out of gear.
I don't consider it notchy, but you know when you put it in gear now... Stock was like butter smooth, with a long throw and no solid feel of going into gear.
It's much sportier feeling now. No, there's no click click either.

Well, I have to say the install looks like a pain and I can't help but get the feeling that I will break at least 2 things but I took the plunge and ordered the shifter. I miss the feeling of the short shifter I had in my 350Z, where it was notchy and felt so good to shift. Hopefully this is the same way.
I figure if you guys are taking 2.5 hours to finish, I should finish in 6. I take forever to do this type of car stuff.
Thanks for the write up though. Im gonna print it out come time to install the shifter.
