Chances are the guys who were doing the work at CT (ie. the braintrust behind the design/engineering work) will open a new company down the road backed by different investors. Especially, and I would assuming here, the company, and not the investors, holds the patents on the products. Now is the time for patience (something most of you here are not known for); the market served by CT is too big to go unserved...even if the CT guys don't reincorporate, someone will step up to capture the market previously served by them.

I am so bummed out about this, I loved Comptech's products and their support for the Honda community.

When I saw American Touge 2, I was excited to see Comptech compete and representing Honda's.

I hope Comptech comes back on its feet and better than ever.

This is by far the worst news I have ever read on this forum. No more exhausts, no more SCs, no more RSBs or HBPs. This is all terrible news. It was a good run though Comptech. RIP.

When I talked to Nate yesterday I asked about the service parts and maintenance kits. He said that were not any. He said that the belt can be bought at most auto parts stores and the oil for the charger can be purchased through Magnus?(although he said is should be good for about 100K). He also said that the only other thing that could go wrong was the bearing in the charger may need to be replaced later on. He said that could be done at alot of places. (ex:a shop that rebuilds turbos)

Anything about rad hoses...are they custom or just an off the shelf unit. Also...did he mention anything about high boost pulleys at all? Something tells me there is none.

I ordered one again. I had cancelled my previous order. He said the had about 40 or so HBP. I forgot to ask about the radiator hose. It took me over two hours to get in touch with Nate. I don't have the time today. Maybe someone else could call and ask. He is the only one answering calls for the sales dept.

Man this is unfortunate for you guys with Comptech parts already on your vehicles. Let's hope it is just a temporary closing of the doors until financial matters are sorted out.

Any venture capitalists on the boards?

Actually...I got them to pick up the phone and slam it down in my ear once now too...woohoo. I have left several messages about exactly what I wanted (Boost Pulley and Rad hose) and seems that I cant get an answer about JACK now.

Well...guess thats it....its done and over. Sucks that you KNOW they have what you want and cant even get em to take your money and order. But I guess that will be my disappointment to live with forever, huh?

If somebody has a high boost pulley now let me know. I will buy it from you and have then reproduced by another milling company in California....probably the same people they are buying them from anyway? Who knows. Tech2 Motorsports will most likely make em for us if I can get an original high boost pulley to use as a model. Otherwise...its gonna be a crap shoot.

Just kinda ticks me off that we cant get them to respond on the parts that they have left. Watch....I have been at this from the get-go on hearing this news.....and eventually they will decide to do something and they will sell it to some kid that just thought of it 10 minutes ago and happens to call em at the right time and leave the others out in the breeze hangin.

dude....we cant even get em to talk to us, much less sell us HBP's. Yes...there was two of em...a 7# and a 9#. Not sure what else there is to do but contact another milling company about it. Hopefully somebody can let us borrow theirs for a model to copy.

Ok...I just got through. He says we can all relax already! He is not going anywhere and will be there the next few weeks for sure. I was able to place an order for a high boost pulley as well as an extra rad hose (hose is not cheap....lists for like $109 as it is a custom unit and not off the shelf) therefore I WAS able to get my order in for the parts I really wanted...therefore I wanted to come back and tell everybody he says that he is just one man now...so if you leave a message.....he WILL call you back. He had my message on his list...I just happened to catch him before he called....but he wanted to assure me as well...that this order WILL ship...(today or tomorrow latest)...but thats the reason we are having difficulty getting anybody is that he is just himself now....order taker...shipper, ect. so if it gets done...it is HE who has to do it, so he may not always be reachable and we may have to wait for a callback. Keep in mind also...the callback list is over 80 people long....so it may be a few before he gets back to you.

Bottom line....HBP ordered.....Top Rad Hose Ordered.....done deal. Actually...I kept thinking when I had him on the phone that I should order like 10 of em or something...but fact is....I would end up getting stuck with them most likely and I cannot afford that.

Actually...there is only one listed in their books and it states that it is 7 - 8.5# and he stated it had a bunch of question marks after it in the book because they never tested em formally - basically he stated that they have NEVER tested ANY of the high boost pulleys, which is why in fact...why they dont know exactly what they boost it up to. They only had one unit listed in their books though and it listed a range. The other company I mentioned actually has two listed...a 7 and a 9 - so who knows?

what's the likelihood that the hose will go bad? if it needs to be replaced after X miles, i'll probably order one. the HBP isn't on the top of my list. Michael, when you get it, will you look into making more? if so, I won't bother ordering one since the hose is so damn EXPENSIVE.

Also, does anyone know the size of our S/C belt? I would like to know for future reference.

thanks,
-Andrew

I have a specific reason I want an extra top rad hose. I am running a custom aluminum radiator and I want to have an extra just in case.

Hey guys, I don't want to impede on the thread when you guys are talking about obtaining important parts/spare parts before comptech closes but can you guys please just go on this thread and just add your names to the petition even if you guys already have exhausts, whether comptech or not, whether you want an exhaust or not, i need names (bodies) to sign up on the petition so we can get GReddy to manufacture us a catback...Thank you for your cooperation. Here's the website:

Yeah, it's a pain to get through to someone, but I also got a hold of the secretary. She let me know the belt is a Goodyear Gatorback #4060945. Just installed it, and everything's fine and dandy

?..now do comptech parts appreciate or depreciate now...that is the question?

those comptech oil caps, springs, sway bars, ice box, etc.
Was there that much of a demand for it that say, a few years down the road at a car show some says...."WOW! you gotta Comptech such-n-such?!?!..where did you find that?"

i wonder...

I spoke with John @ HottExhaust and they didn't know about Comptech. He said that they have been thinking about making an exhaust for the TL. Now they might really look into it. No another options then to go full custom.

It's about competiton, and product complexity, but few will care solely about the Comptech moniker... There's very little you can invest in a car that "appreciates".

The supercharger will depreciate hugely, because there's no support, hell and they never really "finished" it with the surging issue. Run at your own risk.

The swaybar may appreciate, but unlikely with the Progress bar out now. I don't kow folks thatwould pay MORE for a smaller, less stiff, USED swaybar.

The sundry bits like oil caps may fetch a few bucks more, but I highly doubt anyone will pay assloads just to say they have Comptech.

The only thing I can think of that "may" appreciate is the exhaust, in that when new supplies are depleted, it's still the only proven "game in town" with regards to cat-back systems. I'd be happy if I got the used price paid for it when I go to trade in.

Unfortunately, as time goes by, superior products will be introduced, and Comptech products will be forgotten. Watch how quick those superchargers and exhaust systems go to ebay if a quality, reliable, and properly support Turbo and Greddy exhaust comes to market...
I've already seen 3 swaybars go to the market with the ANNOUNCEMENT of a 24mm progress SB.

That kinda depends on that part and demand I would imagine. Exhausts and such are likely to appreciate a minor bit but superchargers in my opinion....will take a nose dive due to lack of support. There are already (I have seen one anyway the same day it was announced) people that have uninstalled superchargers still in the box that are bailing out on the whole project and they are for sale in black market due to lack of possible needed support. That type of thing would lead you to believe they will drop in value....BUT...demand could turn that around if people get a frenzy and start buying.

Quick Reply: Comptech Closed!!!
