cleaning out the AEM V2 cone

Hey guys,

Wanted to get your thoughts...

The first time I cleaned the cone I used the soap water method in the bucket... seemed like some things did not come off...

This 2nd time...I took the cone and used a vacuum on it. I have a vacuum with a half inch end so it got between every ridge . Seems like it did a better job than the water method. I didn't get enough time to do the water method after since the sun was coming down and it wouldn't have dried in time, so I still might later this week as it only takes a few minutes to take the cone out.

Has anyone else tried this?
I think it's better, or at least a worthwhile step before the water method so figured I'd share.

Have you tried the cleaning solution that AEM has? I believe the sell them for about $10 a bottle. I'm not sure of what the solution contains.

3 things come to mind with the vacuuming

1) There is a chance you can puncture the media with the wand.

2) You might suck a hole in the media

3) Washing with thier solution does dissolve a lot of particulate imbedded in the media and it is flushed with the rinse. Remember you only submerge the filter to the shoulder area not letting outside dirty water into the "clean" side of the filter.
