Caliper Upgrade That's Not BBK

I have a 2006 Acura TL. I know it's possible to add the Acura Brembo BBK found on the manual tran or type-s but it's gonna cost upward of 1k+ to make upgrade the internals of the car in order to add the big calipers and fit larger rotors.
I'm not gonna race the car very often and didn't think it was in my best interest to spend that much on a really sophisticated kit.
One of my calipers is going bad so I will be replacing them anyway, so I figure now I have the opportunity to upgrade to something nicer.
Any suggestions? Should I go OEM calipers again or is there something else that can be done to spruce up the car.
I've tried searching the forums but all I find are BBK solutions. Maybe not searching with the right terms.

You could always do ss brake lines. Pair them with a different set of pads (Hawk Pads are popular amongst AZiners), and maybe a set of rotors that are drilled and slotted (dissipates heats more efficiently). Not sure of which specific set of pads (PUAHAHAH, okay...sorry) to recommend, but rotor wise, lots of people go with the either Stoptechs or Rotoras.

a good set of pads and slotted rotors should do the job. i have hawk HPS on my car and they seem to work really good even in cold temperatures(-30'C). I've just ordered some EBC yellowstuff so i'll have to see how that goes in my crazy temperature changes i get here.
The SS lines will give you a better pedal feel, but not a must.and a good brake fluid will make sure you wont get any fade.Ford heavy duty DOT3,ATE SuperBlue DOT4, Motul DOT5.1 are all pretty good fluids.

Dimensions, PM me if you are interested....my setup isnt a different caliper, but it turns your stock brakes into a pretty beastly setup for not being BBK. Passengers in my car rave about the bite of my brakes all the time. I can hook you up with an internet seller who I purchased my Drilled/Slotted rotors from and ASPEC pads which have great bite, NO fade, and very little dust. It cost me around 550 installed.

For around $800... You could have bbk... Slotted and dimpled rotors w/ pads and ss lines... And 4pot calipers w/ the option to have them the color of your choice for an additional price

Would I need to replace anything in my vehicle in order to accomodate the Wilwood BBK? For instance, would I need to rid myself of the stock wheels? I planned to keep them for use during the winter. Do I need to change the plate behind the rotors?
And I don't see the 12.9 listed, just a 12.6 ($775) and 13 ($1450). Does Wilwood sell stand alone caliper replacements?
I was actually thinking of purchasing RacingBrake Ultra Performance rotors and ET300 pads for the front and RacingBrake High Performance rotors and ET300 pads for rear and RB stainless steel lines as well. I spoke to HeelToeAuto and read their website and the RacingBrake website and compared them to other manufactures and am convinced they are the best choice for me as a daily driver in New England. Obviously, I have to try them out first but I am hopeful that they will work out well.
Thanks for everyone's input!

This is a pretty reasonably priced Brake Kit:
http://store.excelerateperformance.c.../i-236893.aspx
It has everything you're looking for. Also ROTORA makes a caliper kit which is about $1075 shipped. It's a 4 piston caliper with lines, pads, brackets, etc but it uses the OE rotors.
