CAI long term updates

Anyone on here have there cold air intake for more than 50,000 miles or more? If so, how has it been holding up and has your performance been adversely affected?
I plan on keeping my car for a long time and I'm wondering if dropping in a CAI will shorten my engine life. I was talking to a friend about it and he said that if I did that, the ecu will not be used to all that air and may damage the engine in the long run. I think he's BS'ing. Thanks for all your help!

sounds like BS, i think the only thing you are doing is helping the engine so it can breathe easier by putting on a CAI

Did your friend have a bad experience with CAI and modding in general or is he one of those sideline nay-sayers? If your engine lasts say 300k miles, adding a CAI will not shorten the life by 100k or anything so why worry, live a little

Thanks for the input guys. I've heard that freeing up the intake may make the engine run more lean or more rich. Would I have to tune the engine?

not really, especially on a naturally-aspirated car.
