Brembo Brakes, EBC Ceramic brake pads squeeling
Hi Everyone,
I changed my brake pads last week on my front brembo brakes to "EBC Red Stuff" brake pads. I believe those are ceramic. I used the disc brake quiet on the back of the pads and on the shims I used I heat lubricant before installing them. I cleaned the rotors with brake cleaner before installing also. After about 400 miles now, I am still getting squeek noise at high speeds. The noise comes and goes. At low speeds I have not experienced any problems. I called the Acura service techs, and they said give it a couple of 100 miles to have the first layer of the pads wear off which will break them in. I usually do highway miles so braking is not often, but when it is, it is at high speed around 80 mph. Any clues or suggestions would be appreciated. It is annoying to have squeeky brakes.

Did you follow the bed in procedure?

Well, after a quick internet search, I did not follow the bed in procedure. So, that is why the squeeking is happening???? Though I doubt that bed in procedure will work. I think it might be the brake disc quiet I used on the pads, where I should have used Molykote cu 7439 recommeded by Acura in one of the procedures.
Any one else has any ideas?
Also, if I end up opening the front brake pads again, do I need to order new brake pads or the EBC will work?

All that other stuff is a band-aid fix. You're missing a very important part of the brake installation. Do the bed in procedure and most likely you will be fine.
