Borla Exhaust

I want to contact Borla about components for a cat back system and was wondering who would seriously interested if purchasing a Borla system. My thought was if we there was enough serious interest they may commit to designing a turnkey system. After all if they do it for the G35 why not the TL?

My friend has a owned serveral Borla exhausts and really likes them. If they designed on for the TL I would purchase one if it were priced at or below the Comptech catback.

They would have to retain the stock exhaust port appearance for me to be interested. I like the stock look and think a round pipe would look odd.

I agree... unless they make the round tips look amazing.

I'm really interested. Borla makes good product. I have thierr cat-back on my Xterra, and I installed thier cat-back on my bud's 350Z. Both yeilded great gains, good sound, and great looks.

What was Borla's feedback/response to your enquiry?

I also concur with those who would desire a tip that would retain the stock tip appearance, maybe with a more aggressive look (make em stick outan inch... something like that).

I like borla mufflers. Installed quite a few of them, carry an overall good tone.

Borla system

I would purchase one immediately, if it were available. I would want stainless steel, but think a round tip could be made very attractive. (The 3.5" round tips of the Borla system on my Corvette would be perfect.) I agree that the new tips should stick out another 1-2". I have contacted Borla, Bassani and Corsa about whether or not they have any plans to create a system for the TL. All have responded negatively. So let's put on some group pressure!

Borla is always overpriced in my opinion!

I used to own a Mustang and they were always 50-60% more expensive than most others.

However, I have seen the prices of some of the cat-back systems for the TL and I can't imagine the Borla being any more expensive... I was seeing over the $1,000 price point for Comptech, WOW!

I would be interested but the price point would have to be competitive.

^-I've used those more as resonators that mufflers. I dont think you are going to get them to fit behind the bumper cover to replace the rear mufflers. They do sound good on a 60's mustang, hard to imagine on a TL

Also, does anyone else remember the Borla thread from 05 when a bunch of us sent in request forms? Did anyone get feedback or a reply?

Borla Exhaust needs to hear our feedback!

Hope that this informaton has been helpful, havea great day. If you have additional questions regarding Borla exhaust check out our web site www.Borla.com you may contact me Direct anytime Mon-Fri 8:30-5:00 PST with questions or concerns

I called yesterday and asked as well... Was told it's not even on thier radar. I was also told we'd need a LOT of folks interested before it would go into development.
I expressed my interest via the website as directed...

Then promtly ordered my Magnaflow setup from hottexhaust.com

(2) 14" polished stainless mufflers - 14325, 27" stainless resonator - 12640, stainless y-connector - 10758
I went large because I've read the free flowing ESP cats are add to the drone, so you need a little more.

Not bad $220 plus another $100 to pay my buddy for install and I'm coming in 1/2 to 2/3 less than any Borla or Comptech Exhaust, and I get to keep the stock tips.

Just a heads up Borla doesn't really develop exhausts for vehicles like the TL. And Borla exhausts aren't cheap. You would have a better chance with the Magnaflow, both for development and price.

I ran the numbers on hottexhaust for the part numbers and it came to $272.11. Did you get a special discount or something ($220.00)?

Why a G and not a TL? ha. (Z guy here) welp, because the G35 COUPE is based on the 350Z and people who buy them tend to mod them. I've yet to see a single TL modded yet I've seen handfuls of supercharged G35s, turbo G35s and just intake/exhuast G35s/ 95% of those are all Coupes. my guess is since there's a big market for the G35coupe guys they made exhuast for the G35 Sedan. once again I've only see a few sedans out there that have had any mods done to them. most mods if any are body kits.

Anywho, would I buy a borla exhuast? no thanks. Never was a fan of their exhuast systems.
The exhaust they make for the 350Z is a true dual exhaust, however its a good 6+ pieces you have to piece together then try to get them to line up right. it's IMO not put together very well. I'd take a HKS, TopSecret or Invidia exhuast anyday over a borla.

350Z borla exhuast.

Call John, special discount for Acurazine members...

As for Borla exhaust, they're not that expensive... compared to Comptech that is.
My Xterra CBwas around $500. I installed the Borla CB on my buddy's 350Z, it cost about $675... it wasn't difficult at all to install, the modular pieces make it a snap. Sounds great, added quite a bit of HP.

The CT CB is not a bad system, but I fail to see the value ($900+) for so little gains.

Jeffie, there are alot of modded 3G TL s on this forum. Take a look around the forum (search) and you will see a good number of Catback, Cold Air, UR pulley, RSB and superchargers as well as body kit upgrades.

As for the Borla Exhaust, I'm interested in any Catback that has 'TL' type muffler tips. The OEM tips look too good to change to some round ones.

I'd listen to excelerate...there was a strong interest in Borla about 8 months ago and obviously they havent done a damn thing about it. If you are thinking about doing an exhaust I would suggest you go with what options are out there now...as you might be waiting a long, long time otherwise.

No doubt when you go to a webpage where TL owners go (more so to mod their cars) and hang out.... I've yet to see a single TL modded in real life. even at car meets. yet I'll see a G35 every other day that has mods.

Smile My opinion...

My two cents...

I purchased a Borla cat-back exhaust system for my 1995 4.6L V-8 T-Bird back in 1996. The kit fit perfectly and to this day all I need is steel wool to polish it right up. It's good quality and lasts forever. The sound is perfect as well and there is no drone or NVH frequencies on the highway.

If they make a kit for the TL, I would say it's worth looking at. Is it overpriced? Maybe.

I'll tell you something else. Friends of mine did their trucks (F-250 and an F-150 Lightning) with a custom shops stuff and Flowmaster mufflers. They paid half of what I did but their exhaust rotted in 5 years and they had to replace everything again. So what did they gain. Moral of the story is, you pay for what you get.

I'm with you on that. The only time I see other modded TL's is when I go to a meet.

What do you mean by a "meet". Sorry for my ignorance, but are there gatherings for TL owners? I go to Corvette events regularly, but didn't know there could be similar events for Acura owners.

People who own cars and enjoy their cars tend to "meet" up and hang out and check out each others cars. That's why when you come on a forum like this or go to a meet you find people who are into cars. and they tend to mod them.

the rest of the people could care less and wont touch their cars. they'd rather drive it thru a car wash every week.
