BMW TWIN TURBO 325i N 3281...FYI

BMW is putting these two new options on the 325i and 328i.
They are adding twin turbos and all wheel drive to move pass the TL, RL, G35 and the I350.
The HP on the these two cars are 300BHP and 300 LB Ft of torque, beginging at just 1400 RPM.

from european car issue august 2006, page 36.
The ship date on the 325i and 328i is Sept 06.
And in mid 07 the M3 will be available in 4 doors.

BMW’s 3.0 liter Twin-Turbodiesel won the 2.5 to 3.0 liter category in the International Engine of the Year awards. With this new-found expertise on how to mate an engine with a turbocharger, they are going for a new petrol twin-turbo engine for their E92 335i.

The E92 is a two-door coupe form of the 3-series. The sedan was designated E90 and the touring stationwagon was the E91.

BMW’s new coupe will be called the 335i. The 35 in the model name does not mean the car will have a 3.5 liter engine under the hood.

BMW will actually be turbocharging their in-line 6 cylinder 3.0 liter engine from the 330i with twin-turbos. The turbos are sequential, one small one for the low revs and a bigger one for the higher revs. The resulting power is equivalent to a 3.5 liter normally aspirated engine, which explains the 335i insignia that will be on the bootlid.

Their new twin-turbo petrol engine is expected to make about 330hp, roughly 70hp higher than the normally aspirated 3.0 engine. The engine is currently being tested on their 5-series model with a modified bumper to allow better airflow for the intercooler

Engine of the year? Didn't Madza do this same turbo thing 10 years ago with the RX-7?

A 325i is going to cost well over $50K with this option. Don't think it will sell to well.

Not on a Turbo DIESEL.

I love my TL, but I miss the RAW toque of my hopped up VW Jetta TDI.

porsche has had twin turbos on their 6-cylinder engines for a long time. their turbo timing is considered the best.

yeah, this is going into car talk soon.

anyways, i love the new 335. 300 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque. I'm actually considering trading in the TL for it, if it'll fit my budget.
