Big bore throttle body pics 08 tl s

Here they are. Easily a 3mm larger bore. I am sure there is some math guy on here who could figure out the volume increase but that is NOT me lol. I also had the plenum ported and polished as well. No point in opening the bore size on the T/B and not the intake. Waiting for the Wanderer to take the car for a ride and let me know if he feels a difference. Same mods bascially so he would be a good judge.

Increased opening size by 9.74% Just over half of a square inch. Every little bit helps.

Definitely looks like a cool idea and can't hurt.

Well, its not the volume, but it certainly represents less flow resistance. Did you have a shop machine it out and pop in a new butterfly valve? Details?

A new butterfly was made since the bore size is larger the old one would not seal and that would be NFG. I had the machine work done by King Motorsports. the T/B work cost 175 if I remember correctly. They hit me a little more for the port and polish. I bought a brand new plenum and T/B. I didnt want the car down even though I dont drive it. I am mad OCD! Funny story.. I looked up the service on their site and saw they offered if for all EXCEPT drive by wire. So me being the douche I am looked at a T/B and was like "Why wont this work??" So I called them and asked WTF wouldnt this work? They said it WOULD work. So I said Ok and they did it. They also said they would update their site accordingly. So now when you go to the site DBW is added.

I honestly think so. Its no 20 WHP or anything but I am sure it produces more gain than any spacers or plastic gaskets.

Very nice! 70mm is a lot of airflow. I suspect it will help the modded cars quite a bit. Even the stock one is 4mm bigger than my bored out stock one on the GN. I bet one of these on a supercharged TL with the throttlebody before the blower will make a very nice difference.

For the S/C guys this is an awesome mod! For the N/A guys, I'm wondering what this will do to our A/F ratio???? Any chance someone can get on a dyno and check it out?

Yeah man not to blow this up too big but the car is pulling harder than ever before (off and on the bottle). I am seriously impressed. I know it is colder outside and that matters too but holy crap! This thing is beastlier than ever.

Cool

How come we aren't hearing more about this mod? I wonder why this isn't a group buy? Is there not enough interest? Did you see a big difference in MPG?

Cool

What does it take to start up a group buy? Is this worth doing if you don't do the TB spacer or the rest of the intake path?

Um... Well this would render throttle body spacer pointless, but you would still want to run a silicon gasket still

Cool

? why do say pointless? You just need to get one made for 70mm in our bolt pattern or grind it down yourself then maybe polish it. You still get the thermal benefits, and the spacer will help with throttle lag. Right?

Good point. I did have the T/B, gasket and plenum all matched to the same bore. I figured it wouldnt make sense to have the larger bore on the t/b and not carry it through to the intake.I was confident on the power gains from the spacer I would have had all three done.

Fine.

I'm ordering a used throttle body. I'm sending it to these guys to be bored out, then I'm sending to jptl04 to be polished...

They did a nice job. Only complaint was they sent the plenum and T/B back in the same box. The plenum dented the razor edge of my T/B and it needed a little massaging to get the ding outta the lip. No biggie but it wasted 15 minutes of my life.

racing, what did you do with your old IM and Throttle body after you installed the new ones? Also how much was it total for the port and polish on the IM?

I still have the parts in my basement. I bought new so there would be no down time. I think the parts cost me 400. I figured either I would build another full set up with my old stuff and sell it if the whole thing was a success. Then I forgot about it until I was thumbing through my subscribed threads lol. Now that the economy is in the toilet I am just sitting pretty and trying not to spend tons of money. I did the porting and polishing myself. Its easy with the right tools. I didnt get the plenum EXTRUDE HONED though so dont get confused. That is where they send abrasive material through the entire plenum which actually opens up the total diamter of the runners and everything. I just smoothed the runners as far as my die grinder would reach.
