Hey everyone.

What would be the best thing to do to increase performance on a tl 06 with a budget of $1000?

AEM intake is like $235...

Comptech exhaust is like $1050

E-Shift pro-cats are like $1,100

Thermoblock spacer is like $90

UR underdrive pulley (mixed opinions) $200 w/ belt

Thats about all of the major upgrades for the TL...unless you want to SC it..lol but thats way over $1k

CATS CATS CATS.

Those e-shift pro cats are AMAZING. not only will you gain a peak of like 21hp / 22lb/ft BUT it increases your MPG.

Of course, it works best with the comptech catback & aem CAI

there are 3 "cats". They are replacement cat. converters. 2 of them are pretty damn easy (front cat & back one (exhaust)

the middle cat, or back of the engine cat, is a pain in the ass. you have to move the cruise control module and some other crap.

bring it to a shop, they should do all 3 in (3) hours labor or so.

best upgrade $$ wise.

people will not mention....

YOU!

take some high performance driving school. unlike other mods.. you can take this one with you no matter what you drive.

I have done it and it was the best investment I made to my car.

I think the comptech rear sway bar (RSB) counts as improving performance. Easily the most bang for your buck in terms of improvement in handling over stock.

I agree with the poster above, it is not mentioned nearly enough, or receives much discussion, but the best way to increase performance with 1K is to spend it on a driving skills class on a track with a professional. not only will it make you faster than any of the above mentioned mods to your TL, the knowledge and skills will apply to any vehicle you EVER own, not just the TL

actually I refer to them as the front, back and bottom or last cat, with the back cat being the toughest one to replace. The back cat is the one that is coming directly off the rear bank cylinders exhaust manifold. The bottom, or last cat is very accessible from under the vehicle. And I would agree the rear one is a PIA to replace.

A cold air intake (AEM, Injen or FUJITA), the UR crank pulley, and the Pro Cats are the best mods for the car. PM me if you would like any of the mods or prices.
