I just came back from a failed attempt to install the base Exhaust. The three fu@king bolts connecting the cat to the y pipe were so rusted that they didn't even move at full force. Note that I was using hand tools.

Any of you guys know a place in queens,ny were I can have the Exhaust installed?
I really wanted to DIY but then again I don't want force it by evening the bolt.

When I installed a full exhaust (headers/jpipe/race pipe/exhaust) on a friends 2002 Honda Accord, all the bolts were super rusted.....

i would suggest one of the 2 things

1> i would ask you to put some WD-40 or something similar and keep it over night.....try in the morning.....if not then WD-40 again and try after an hour.....this process broke pretty much all of the bolts.....but some were a bitch to come off.....

2> we hand tightened the bolts that were off....took it to firestone and gave him 10 bucks to just raise the car up and loosen the bolts with an impact.....took him less than 5 mins.....

the reason we did this coz I wanted to DIY.....so if you want to DIY really then go to firestone or some shop.....pay them 20 bucks.....and get all ur bolts loosened to where you can drive home but take em off at home.....lets ur car cool down for couple hours and do the install....still cheaper than going to a shop

Two reasons why I intend on painting everything before the install one to fend against road salt damage and second to make the system look as OEM as possible.
JnC, would you have a shop professionally paint it with hi heat paint or would it be ok to rattlecan it? I am interested in the protection also (east coast) and would like to paint it at least like your old Comptech.

PB Blaster FTW!!!
PB Blaser > WD-40

You could always try a breaker bar. Or take a rubber mallet and put the wrench on and bang the wrench in the way to loosen the bolt.

Finally got a tracking number and it arrives tomorrow. Exchanged a couple semi-heated e-mails with Marcus @ heeltoe and it boiled down to I should have gotten a tracking # last wednesday. It's all good now...just glad I got the pipes coming. It really is like waiting for christmas morning when your 5 years old! Maybe that seams excessive to some but, I didn't think anyone would offer a cat back worth replacing the stock look.

I'm going to rent a lift tomorrow or friday. I just did the pre-cats/j-pipe/race pipe so I don't think I'll have trouble with the bolts. they weren't bad the first time with a lift and air tools.

I haven't had a tuff exhaust since I was a teen punk!

well comparing with my Brother's grille that just got delivered..i foresee my exhaust like so:

According to the fedex tracking, my package is
Arrived at FedEx location
KEASBEY, NJ

Compared to my brothers grill, they normally have the truck loaded and on its way to Newburgh, NY at 4am and arrives at 7AM. Then at 9am, the truck departs for local delivery and at 3pm I will have my exhaust !

Figured I should share my agonizingly long experience for tomorrow

Not yet , have to prep and paint the whole system and then cure it in an oven, plus I have to get the type S precats installed soon so videos wont be up for another few days.

Thanks mike, even though the wait was agonizing but it was worth it, the laser etching is bonerworthy

I got the tips and everything masked off and will be stopping by a local buddy's powder coating shop to see how much it'll cost me and how much time it will take, depending on time/cost I'll decide if I want to paint it myself or if I want to powder coat it.

I did prep and paint the ATLP J pipe with flat high heat paint so that is what I am choosing for the exhaust.

^LOL

Everybody getting theirs finally, happy now!? ATLP

I didn't bother taking pictures of the exhaust because I wanted to install it with all the padding intact so I didn't scratch or put finger prints on it.

I forgot to mention I had a small ding on one of my muffler and couple of small scratches here and there, but it wasn't really a big deal.

i did hit it very lightly with some Never Dull just before the pics and noticed a lot of milling lines, mostly just a grain look you would expect from polished stainless. It's shiny enough and I hope to add it to a complete gunmetal powder coat look on my WDP one day, anyway.

Like I've been saying, wanted a cat back to get low end punch back and always liked the stock tips. This exhaust was the answer to my prayers.

Thanks ATLP! Oh, acurazine discount on heeltoe helped, too.

Man I got my track # on the 20th and it aint gonna be delivered till June 2. WTF? Anyway the pics look sweet though.

JnC, Do you think it would be ok to paint this out of a rattlecan? or do you think it should be professionally done? I'm with you on the protection issue from salt and stuff.

Yup, rattle can would be just fine.

I just finished painting the whole exhaust after prepping it, everything but the tips is matte black I'll have pictures in a day or so as the exhaust is curing

with a lift its a one person job. With jacks/jackstands you need two bc of angles. You can get it done but it will take you forever and you don't want to risk dropping those pieces of gold you waited 4 months for.

I did it by myself with one jack and one jack stand. It's kinda dangerous but I've done it countless time. I jacked up the rear passenger jacking point and put the jack stand on the front passenger jacking point. You have to jack the car up enough to fit yourself under comfortably. It's the scary part because it looks like the car is gonna tilt over. I worked my way from the 3rd cat out with each individual piece of the exhaust. I didn't put it together before installing it because I would be dragging it under the car and too heavy to lift up since I was doing this myself. I put a small box tall enough to sit the exhaust on it as I was piecing more of the exhaust together. You should wait until the lift is available but nothing beats doing it yourself.
