Crazy story actually. I was driving on the highway, and 2 cars in front of me a car's driveshaft breaks of the car and drops on the ground. The car infront of me was an SUV so he cleared the piece of metal but i was not so fortunate. My car being lowered i had no chance to clear it. It missed the oil pan by a few inches but hit the cat and most of the exhaust. The exhaust was slightly damaged but the cat took the worst of it. It gave me an excuse to get the Greddy exhaust! Now I have the ATLP j-pipe and was wondering if this 3 rd cat would be a good replacement.

Mike, when will these be ready to ship? Can ipay you with paypal like last time?

Also, isn't there an oxygen sensor of the cat? If so, what do you do with it? Will it effect anything?

Or you could always just bust out the insides of that one, Flick. Dealer wants to replace all three....scammers.

Actually, it's finished. It's not just a raw pipe with welds on it. Just like polishing it for a high chrome look, we polish it a different method to achieve a matte, refined OE-look. Different preferences for different people.

Ahh, matte is good, but I don't care either way with the heat shield over it.

I think its cool how you made the replacement look all stealth and stock lol.

I don't know much about honda engines but my TL seems to have alot of engine braking, is this effected with the straight-through installed? Gas mileage?

In my opinion 3 Cats on one car is crazy, this seems like a good idea.

Some cars have 6 cats...

Won't effect engine braking.

5hp seems like a stretch...

Got mine today and installed it this evening. Exhaust tone definitely changes..... The install was easy....the only issues were the fitments of the stock shrouds over the pipe. Couldn't get them to be as secured as they were on the cat, so I can hear them rattle when I gun it.

Hrm really? I was able to tighten them without any problems. Maybe try a washer in between them.

Yeah...louder...but in the way that there is more sound where there was none....like adding notes to gaps of silence instead of increasing the volume to what you already hear. Does that make sense?

Yeah, I'll take another crack at it when I install the j-pipe, I think one of the bolts did not go back on as well as it should have......I think the thread was jacked......so maybe I'll try a different one or the washer like you said.

RacePIpe

Hey What Sup Mike, Just Curious With The RacePipe, Will It Leave A Burnt Exhaust On The Rear Bumper Due To Running Catless? I Know A Few Cars End Up Having The Paint Start To Come Off? Also Any Possible Dyno's Anyone? Does The Exhaust Start To Smell Like Its Running Catless? How Does It Run With The ECU? No Chck Engines Light Still?

when you run mike's race pipe... you are not catless... you are 3rd cat less... there are 3 cats...

as far as cars with a smoked rear bumper = turbo... caused by backfire
with the 3rd cat removed u get a mild syrupy smell...

there is no o2 sensor on the 3rd cat... our cars have 4... 2 on each primary cat

dumb question but I never really caught on, would the primary cats be "e-shift pro cats?"

Two questions-
1. If I have a Megan test tipe should I replace it with Mike's
2. I still have stock primary cats should I replace them with "e-shift?" I don't want the richie straight cat delete.

dumb question... answer - primary cats are the first 2 cats the come out of the motor... you have 1 in the front and 1 in the rear... they are 900 cell cats... and 600 cell cats for the type s guys

the e-shift procats are 200 cell... the precat deletes are 0 cell, because they are straight pipes

the e-shift cats are no longer for sale... if you want a set... I have the sole and only current set for sale in the blackmarket... 750 shipped (negotiable)

if I were you I would replace the megan with the atlp only if you are running an upgraded jpipe... it won't do anything if you are running stock jpipe and stock exhaust

as for the e-shift cats, it is up to you whether you want to run aftermarket cats

Reviews....

I've had no third cat for a year. No new smells, no power difference, no change in sound. I may have picked up 1mpg which was why I did it.

How was your car when you first removed your 3rd cat last year then? power difference, smell, sound, or gas mileage? Thanks

got this installed yesterday. didn't expected to notice the gains but it surprised me with little more low-end torque and engine is more livelier. revs so much smoother and faster than before. not much change in exhaust note but its somewhat like muted g35's exhaust sound. simply it exceeded my expectation and another great mod for its money.

my setup:
-custom icebox
-atlp jpipe
-atlp test pipe
-ur underdrive pulley
-p2r throttle body spacer
